Sales Account Executive Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales account executive in California?
Most sales account executive roles in California require a bachelor's degree, though the field has no state-issued license or mandatory certification. California employers typically want candidates with a background in business, marketing, or a relevant vertical such as technology or healthcare. Building experience in inside sales, business development representative roles, or account management is the most direct path, and completing sales methodology training such as Sandler or Challenger adds a recognized edge with California's tech-sector employers.
How much do sales account executives make in California?
Sales account executives in California earn a median of about $76,490 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $43,200 for the lowest 10% to over $152,760 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales account executives in California?
Employers hiring sales account executives in California right now include Rippling, T-Mobile, and SentiLink, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's density of SaaS headquarters and enterprise technology firms means consistent year-round demand across both established companies and growth-stage startups.
Which California cities have the most sales account executive jobs?
San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego have the most sales account executive openings in California. San Francisco and the broader Bay Area lead because of the concentration of SaaS, cloud, and enterprise software headquarters there, while Los Angeles draws strong demand from media, health tech, and retail technology companies, and San Diego's biotech and defense sectors anchor hiring in the south.
Are there remote sales account executive jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 33% of sales account executive openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the role relies on digital outreach, video presentations, and CRM-driven workflows. Fully remote openings are most common in SaaS and cloud software companies, where the entire sales cycle can run without an in-office presence.
How can I get hired as a sales account executive in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a business development representative or sales development representative, roles that large California technology employers such as Salesforce, Workday, and ServiceNow hire for in volume and use as a structured pipeline into account executive positions. Completing a recognized sales bootcamp or earning a Salesforce Administrator certification strengthens an application before making that lateral move. Candidates who demonstrate consistent outreach metrics and quota attainment in a BDR role typically progress to an account executive title within one to two years at California-based companies.
Where can I find and apply to sales account executive jobs in California?
You can find and apply to sales account executive jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings updated in real time. Find the roles that fit your experience and target industry, then apply directly to each one.
