Marketing at Brex
The Marketing team tells the Brex story — turning product innovation into customer obsession. We develop messaging, shape the brand, and bring our platform to life through thoughtful, compelling content. Our team spans Revenue Marketing, Product Marketing, and Brand Marketing, and works cross-functionally with Product, Sales, Business Development, and Design to drive growth and build trust.
What you'll do
Brex is seeking a strategic, data-driven Growth Marketing Lead, Programmatic & Video to shape how we invest across programmatic display, YouTube, CTV, online video, audio, and emerging channels.
You'll own a high-impact media portfolio spanning Brand and Growth, with the opportunity to define how these programs work together, prove their incremental impact, and identify where Brex should invest next. You'll combine deep programmatic expertise with strong measurement, audience, and experimentation instincts to turn media insights into smarter investment decisions and scalable growth. Critically, you know how to build brand through a performance lens, connecting upper-funnel investments to near-term impact and long-term value creation.
This is a highly visible role for someone excited to build: evolving our media operating model, strengthening our technology and partner ecosystem, and helping establish the systems and capabilities that will shape the next phase of Brex's paid media strategy.
Where you'll work
This role will be based in our San Francisco office. We are a hybrid environment that combines the energy and connections of being in the office with the benefits and flexibility of working from home. Team members are expected to work in-office three days per week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays). Brex also offers the flexibility to work remotely for up to four weeks per year, in one-week increments.
Responsibilities
- Own strategy, investment, and performance across programmatic display, video (CTV, OLV, YouTube), audio, and emerging digital channels across Brand + Growth.
- Evolve Brex's media operating model and partner ecosystem, including DSP/vendor evaluation, onboarding, agency and partner management, and development of scalable processes and best practices as ownership and capabilities evolve.
- Build integrated audience strategies using first-party data, intent, contextual, modeled, and third-party signals to reach priority audiences across the funnel.
- Build the measurement framework for the portfolio, partnering with Analytics and Data Science on attribution, incrementality, geo/holdout tests, brand lift, and approaches that connect upper-funnel investment to downstream business outcomes.
- Partner cross-functionally with Brand, PMM, and Design to translate campaign objectives and performance insights into media strategy, creative requirements, testing plans, and actionable learnings.
- Shape the future of the portfolio by identifying emerging channels, technologies, and AI-enabled opportunities and bringing clear recommendations into quarterly and annual planning.
- Build scalable governance and operating standards across programmatic media, including QA, risk controls, and documentation.
Requirements
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in growth or performance marketing, with deep expertise in programmatic media and video/CTV advertising.
- Demonstrated experience owning a multi-channel media portfolio and significant budgets, including investment planning, forecasting, optimization, and scaling decisions.
- Deep knowledge of the programmatic ecosystem and major DSPs (e.g., DV360, The Trade Desk, or similar), including bidding, inventory, audience strategy, brand safety, and vendor management.
- Strong understanding of full-funnel B2B marketing and experience connecting awareness and consideration investments to downstream business outcomes.
- Advanced fluency in measurement, attribution, and incrementality, including experimentation design, lift studies, holdouts/geo tests.
- Demonstrated ability to build audience architectures using first-party, contextual, intent, modeled, and third-party data.
- Strong creative judgment and experience partnering with Brand and Creative teams on video, display, and performance creative strategy and testing.
- Excellent communicator with demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders, lead complex cross-functional initiatives, and mentor other marketers.
- Highly autonomous, strategic, and comfortable building new capabilities and operating models in a fast-moving environment.
Bonus Points
- Experience in fin-tech marketing or marketing to finance professionals.
- Familiarity with product-led growth or hybrid demand models.
- Experience evolving media operating models and building greater in-house programmatic, video, or CTV capabilities.
Compensation
The expected salary range for this role is $167,240 - $209,050. However, the starting base pay will depend on a number of factors including the candidate's location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. Depending on the position offered, equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.

Growth Marketing Director Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a growth marketing director in California?
Growth marketing director roles in California do not require a state-issued license or credential. Most hiring managers expect a bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field, combined with progressive experience moving from individual contributor to team lead. California employers, particularly in tech and e-commerce, place heavy weight on demonstrated outcomes: retention improvements, CAC reduction, or revenue growth attributable to your work. Building expertise in product analytics and lifecycle marketing accelerates the path considerably.
How much do growth marketing directors make in California?
Growth marketing directors in California earn a median of about $193,620 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $104,370 for the lowest 10% to over $326,400 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire growth marketing directors in California?
Employers hiring growth marketing directors in California right now include Google, TikTok, and Samba TV, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. California's density of consumer tech, SaaS, and media companies means the role turns over at a relatively high rate, with both established public companies and well-funded startups posting openings throughout the year.
Which California cities have the most growth marketing director jobs?
San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Mountain View have the most growth marketing director openings in California. San Francisco and the broader Bay Area lead because of the concentration of SaaS and consumer tech headquarters there, while Los Angeles draws demand from its e-commerce, streaming, and entertainment brands, and San Diego reflects growth from its biotech and direct-to-consumer sectors.
Are there remote growth marketing director jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 67% of growth marketing director openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the day-to-day work happens in dashboards, shared documents, and video calls. Strategy, campaign planning, and analytics work transfers cleanly to remote arrangements, though roles tied to brand events or in-person agency collaboration tend to require some office presence.
How can I get hired as a growth marketing director in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is to enter through a growth marketing manager or senior marketing analyst role, then build toward director-level scope. Large California tech employers like Salesforce, Adobe, and Google run associate product marketing and rotational marketing programs that develop early-career marketers. Candidates who invest in hands-on experience with paid acquisition, A/B testing, and attribution modeling alongside a portfolio of measurable results stand out. Certifications in Google Ads or analytics platforms add concrete credibility.
Where can I find and apply to growth marketing director jobs in California?
You can find and apply to growth marketing director jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings updated regularly. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and target location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
