Marketing Consultant Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a marketing consultant in New York?
Marketing consulting in New York does not require a state-issued license or registration, so the path is built around education and demonstrated results. Most New York employers expect a bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or communications, with an MBA or a recognized digital marketing certification adding a competitive edge. Building a portfolio of measurable campaign outcomes and establishing a specialty, whether in B2B, financial services marketing, or growth analytics, is the most reliable way to move into consulting roles in the New York market.
How much do marketing consultants make in New York?
Marketing consultants in New York earn a median of about $98,580 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $56,070 for the lowest 10% to over $165,920 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire marketing consultants in New York?
Employers hiring marketing consultants in New York right now include Shift Digital, Good Day Home Care, and Capgemini, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New York's concentration of global advertising agencies, financial institutions, and media companies means consulting demand stays relatively consistent across economic cycles compared with other states.
Which New York cities have the most marketing consultant jobs?
New York, Albany, and Islip account for the most marketing consultant openings in New York. New York City dominates because it is home to the headquarters of major advertising holding companies, financial services firms, and consumer brands, while White Plains and Albany generate demand from regional corporate offices and state government communications teams that bring in outside marketing expertise.
Are there remote marketing consultant jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 33% of marketing consultant openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the project-based and strategy-heavy nature of the work. The roles most likely to be fully remote are content strategy, SEO consulting, and digital campaign management, while brand and experiential work tends to require at least some in-person presence with clients.
How can I get hired as a marketing consultant in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a junior role at a New York advertising agency or in-house marketing team, where you build client-facing experience before moving into consulting. Large New York employers like Publicis, WPP agencies, and Edelman run associate and rotational programs designed for recent graduates. A specialty certification in Google Ads, HubSpot, or marketing analytics strengthens a candidacy, and lateral moves from roles in market research, communications, or project management are common ways to step into consulting work without a traditional consulting background.
Where can I find and apply to marketing consultant jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to marketing consultant jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Find a role that fits your experience and specialty, then apply directly through the listing.
