JOB SCOPE:
The Head of New Business Development is a leadership role responsible for creating incremental, profitable growth for the Sears Home Services In-Home Appliance and HVAC businesses through the development of new strategic partnerships, commercial channels, and revenue opportunities. This position reports to senior SHS leadership and operates with national scope, identifying and developing B2B and B2B2C opportunities from initial prospecting and relationship development through commercial agreement, pilot execution, performance validation, and nationwide expansion. The role serves as a senior, hands-on business development leader with broad cross-functional influence and is accountable for building a repeatable new-business growth engine. Primary measures of success include incremental service demand, net revenue, contribution margin, qualified pipeline, pilot launches, conversion of pilots to nationwide agreements, activated partners, geographic and volume expansion, and operational performance.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Head of New Business Development is responsible for identifying, originating, structuring, negotiating, launching, and scaling new business opportunities that generate incremental and profitable In-Home Appliance and HVAC service demand for Sears Home Services. This role will serve as the primary commercial lead for new growth opportunities and will proactively develop relationships with senior and executive-level decision makers across prospective partner organizations. The position will create new demand channels through relationships with manufacturers, retailers, e-commerce organizations, warranty and protection providers, property operators, utilities, membership platforms, marketplaces, consumer brands, and other organizations with residential appliance or HVAC service needs. The Head of New Business Development will work closely with Operations and Product, as well as Finance, Legal, Technology, Marketing, and Customer Experience, to develop commercially sound solutions and pilots that can be operationally executed, measured, and scaled nationally. This is a new-business development and revenue growth position rather than an account management or strategy-only role. The successful candidate will maintain direct involvement throughout the business development lifecycle, from identifying opportunities and developing the commercial proposition through contract negotiation, pilot launch, performance validation, and nationwide expansion.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops and executes a national new-business growth strategy focused on generating incremental, profitable In-Home Appliance and HVAC service demand
- Identifies, prioritizes, and pursues new B2B and B2B2C growth opportunities based on revenue potential, service demand, speed to launch, operational feasibility, profitability, and long-term strategic value
- Builds and maintains a targeted pipeline of prospective partners and personally conducts senior- and executive-level outreach, prospecting, relationship development, discovery, proposal development, negotiation, and closing activities
- Originates and develops strategic partnerships with appliance and HVAC manufacturers, authorized service networks, retailers, e-commerce organizations, warranty and protection providers, insurance and claims organizations, property operators and managers, utilities, membership and loyalty programs, digital marketplaces, and other organizations with residential service needs
- Develops tailored commercial solutions that address prospective partners' customer experience objectives, service gaps, geographic coverage requirements, operating needs, cost considerations, and growth opportunities
- Creates business cases, presentations, proposals, pilot structures, pricing models, and implementation plans that clearly articulate the Sears Home Services value proposition and establish a path to profitable nationwide growth
- Partners closely with Operations and Product to evaluate service capacity, technician availability, geographic coverage, route density, customer experience requirements, service levels, operational workflows, product capabilities, and scalability before committing to new business opportunities
- Collaborates with Finance, Legal, Technology, Marketing, Customer Experience, and other cross-functional partners to validate deal economics, contractual requirements, data and technology needs, implementation requirements, performance measures, and operational readiness
- Structures and negotiates commercially sound agreements, including pricing, service expectations, volume assumptions, performance measures, risk provisions, pilot success criteria, and potential nationwide expansion
- Leads new-business opportunities from initial concept through contract execution, pilot readiness, launch, performance validation, and expansion
- Establishes measurable pilot objectives and evaluates actual results against approved business cases, including service volume, revenue, contribution margin, customer experience, service-level performance, technician capacity, route density, and operational execution
- Drives the conversion of successful pilots into broader regional or nationwide commercial agreements and identifies opportunities to expand volume, geography, service categories, and overall partner economics
- Transitions mature, steady-state partnerships to the appropriate B2B account or partner-management organization once the program has reached established scale, while maintaining appropriate executive sponsorship and identifying additional growth opportunities
- Establishes and maintains a disciplined new-business operating cadence, including pipeline stages, next steps, opportunity probabilities, projected launch timing, estimated service volume, revenue forecasts, risks, and required leadership decisions
- Provides senior leadership with clear and consistent visibility into the new-business pipeline, expected revenue and service demand, pilot activity, commercial negotiations, launch readiness, business risks, and performance against growth objectives
- Monitors the quality and sustainability of new revenue by evaluating net revenue, contribution margin, pricing discipline, technician utilization, route density, service-level performance, customer experience, and actual results compared with approved business case assumptions
- Develops a repeatable approach for progressing opportunities from target identification and executive engagement through solution development, pilot execution, performance validation, nationwide expansion, and ongoing revenue growth

- Proven track record of developing new business opportunities that generated measurable revenue, transaction volume, service demand, or other quantifiable commercial results
- Demonstrated experience personally managing the full business development lifecycle, including prospecting, executive outreach, discovery, solution development, proposal creation, commercial negotiation, contracting, and closing
- Experience structuring complex B2B or B2B2C partnerships requiring cross-functional coordination, pilot development, operational integration, implementation planning, service-level requirements, and expansion across multiple markets
- Strong commercial and financial acumen with the ability to evaluate pricing, unit economics, contribution margin, revenue forecasts, contract structures, business cases, and profitability
- Ability to distinguish between top-line growth and sustainable, profitable revenue and to structure commercial agreements accordingly
