The path into product marketing in New York typically starts with a bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or communications, as no state-issued license or certification is required for the role. New York employers, especially in tech and media, place heavy weight on hands-on experience, so internships at New York-based companies or agencies during college carry significant hiring influence. Building a portfolio that demonstrates go-to-market work, even from academic or freelance projects, strengthens applications considerably.
How much do product marketing associates make in New York?
Product marketing associates in New York earn a median of about $181,200 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $104,140 for the lowest 10% to over $324,310 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire product marketing associates in New York?
Employers hiring product marketing associates in New York right now include DoorDash, Ralph Lauren, and Ares Operations, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's dense concentration of consumer technology, fintech, and media companies makes it one of the most consistently active hiring markets for this role in the country.
Which New York cities have the most product marketing associate jobs?
New York, New York City, and Rochester have the most product marketing associate openings in New York. Manhattan drives the largest share because of its headquarters density in tech, financial services, and media, while Brooklyn has grown as a hub for consumer brands and startups, and suburban markets like Westchester reflect the satellite offices of large enterprise software firms with regional operations outside the city.
Are there remote product marketing associate jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 38% of product marketing associate openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting that core responsibilities like messaging development, competitive research, and campaign planning translate well to distributed work. The portions of the role most suited to remote arrangements are content strategy and market analysis, while in-person expectations tend to apply to launch events and cross-functional product reviews.
How can I get hired as a product marketing associate in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a marketing coordinator or marketing specialist role at a New York tech, media, or consumer brand, then moving internally into product marketing once you have exposure to product launches or positioning work. Large New York employers including advertising holding companies and enterprise software firms regularly run rotational associate programs and new-graduate cohorts. A strong portfolio with a documented go-to-market project, even from a capstone, internship, or volunteer initiative, consistently gives candidates without direct product marketing titles a competitive edge.
