Territory Sales Manager Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a territory sales manager in New York?
Most territory sales managers in New York start with a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a field aligned with their industry and then build several years of outside or account sales experience before stepping into a management role. New York does not require a general state sales license for this role, but certain sectors add credential requirements: pharmaceutical or medical device sales often expects CNPR certification, and financial services territory roles may require FINRA Series 6 or Series 7 registration before you can carry a full book of business.
How much do territory sales managers make in New York?
Territory sales managers in New York earn a median of about $217,640 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $107,670 for the lowest 10% to over $378,910 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire territory sales managers in New York?
Employers hiring territory sales managers in New York right now include New York Blood Center, Daiichi Sankyo US, and EVERSANA, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's concentration of pharmaceutical headquarters, financial services firms, and enterprise technology companies makes it one of the deeper markets nationally for this role.
Which New York cities have the most territory sales manager jobs?
New York, Albany, and Syracuse have the most territory sales manager openings in New York. New York City drives the bulk of demand given its density of corporate headquarters across pharma, fintech, and media, while Buffalo and Albany generate consistent openings through regional distribution networks, healthcare systems, and state government contractors that rely on dedicated territory coverage.
Are there remote territory sales manager jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. Territory sales management is fundamentally a field role built around in-person client visits, ride-alongs, and on-site relationship building, so fully remote arrangements are uncommon. About 18% of territory sales manager openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions typically involve inside sales coordination or national account oversight rather than hands-on field coverage.
How can I get hired as a territory sales manager in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a sales development representative or inside sales associate role at a New York-based employer and converting field experience from there. Large pharmaceutical companies with New York offices, including those in the Hudson Valley and Manhattan corridors, run rotational sales associate programs specifically for recent graduates. Earning a CNPR certification or a FINRA Series 6 registration before applying signals readiness and narrows the experience gap for candidates moving into healthcare or financial services territory roles.
Where can I find and apply to territory sales manager jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to territory sales manager jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current New York openings updated regularly. Search by city or specialty to narrow results to roles that match your background and territory preference, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
