Marketing Specialist Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a marketing specialist in New York?
Marketing specialist roles in New York do not require a state-issued license or registration. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field. New York City's concentration of major agencies, media companies, and corporate headquarters means hiring standards are competitive, so candidates who build a portfolio of campaign work, earn certifications from platforms like Google or Meta, and gain hands-on experience through internships move to the front of the line.
How much do marketing specialists make in New York?
Marketing specialists in New York earn a median of about $98,580 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $56,070 for the lowest 10% to over $165,920 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire marketing specialists in New York?
Employers hiring marketing specialists in New York right now include Google, LaBella Associates, and Cushman & Wakefield, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's density of global brands, financial institutions, and media companies means openings appear at both large corporate headquarters and mid-size agencies across the state.
Which New York cities have the most marketing specialist jobs?
New York, Buffalo, and Brooklyn have the most marketing specialist openings in New York. New York City dominates the distribution because it is home to the country's largest concentration of advertising agencies, media networks, and Fortune 500 headquarters, while Albany and Buffalo contribute steady volume from regional corporate offices, healthcare systems, and university marketing departments.
Are there remote marketing specialist jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 30% of marketing specialist openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the desk-based, digital-first nature of the work. Content creation, paid media management, and email marketing tend to have the highest concentration of fully remote roles, while positions tied to events, retail, or in-person brand activations are more likely to require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a marketing specialist in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a marketing coordinator or marketing associate role, which large New York employers regularly fill with recent graduates. Companies like Publicis Groupe, Omnicom, and major financial institutions run structured new-graduate programs and rotational associate tracks in their New York offices. Building a portfolio through freelance projects, student campaigns, or nonprofit work strengthens any application, and earning a Google Ads or HubSpot certification demonstrates practical readiness when work history is thin.
Where can I find and apply to marketing specialist jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to marketing specialist jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings, find roles that fit your background and location, and apply directly.
