Marketing Specialist Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a marketing specialist in Texas?
Marketing specialists in Texas do not need a state-issued license, so the path runs through education and portfolio. Most employers require a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, advertising, or a related discipline. Texas universities including the University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M, and SMU produce strong marketing graduates. Building hands-on experience through internships, freelance campaigns, or in-house roles at Texas brands is what most hiring managers weigh most heavily alongside your degree.
How much do marketing specialists make in Texas?
Marketing specialists in Texas earn a median of about $72,520 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $37,640 for the lowest 10% to over $135,710 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire marketing specialists in Texas?
Employers hiring marketing specialists in Texas right now include Sinclair Broadcast, Renesas, and Dal-Tile, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Content, SEO, and email marketing positions tend to be the most consistently remote.
How can I get hired as a marketing specialist in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a marketing coordinator or marketing associate role, which Texas employers treat as the training ground for specialist-level work. Large Texas retailers like H-E-B, healthcare systems like Ascension Texas, and technology companies in the Austin corridor regularly hire entry-level marketing staff. A portfolio of real projects, even from freelance or nonprofit work, and familiarity with HubSpot or Google Analytics gives candidates a measurable edge over those with only coursework.
