SEO Account Manager
Full-time · Hybrid (Houston-based preferred) · Start date: ASAP
ASTOUNDZ is a Houston-based digital marketing agency with national reach. We run a patent-pending content system that drives organic visibility for our clients across SEO, AI search, paid media, web, and social. We’re independent, work on month-to-month contracts, and have a 93% client retention rate. We’re growing, and we’re hiring another ASTOUNDZing SEO Account Manager to help us serve the clients that growth brings.
About the role
You’ll be the day-to-day point of contact for a portfolio of clients — owning the relationship, the content production, and the deadlines. You’ll work directly under our Director of SEO, taking the strategy our leadership builds and turning it into shipped, on-time, on-quality work, week after week.
We’re looking for someone whose defining trait is dependability. Self-motivated, detail-obsessed, and comfortable juggling dozens of clients without dropping a ball. You flag issues early, communicate proactively, and don’t let deadlines slip without a heads-up. If your last manager would describe you as the most reliable person they’ve worked with, we want to talk.
This role is heavily AI-augmented. Comfort working with AI tools every day is non-negotiable — you’ll use them to draft, research, and produce, then edit ruthlessly to brand voice and our quality bar. If you can’t tell when an AI tool is wrong, this role isn’t the right fit. The AI landscape changes fast — we’re looking for someone who’s energized by that, not threatened by it.
You’ll work with dozens of small and mid-sized service businesses across Houston and the country. The job is steady in volume, polished, and reliable in execution.
How we work
Five commitments shape every client engagement and every internal interaction at ASTOUNDZ:
- Responsive — we move quickly, and clients know we’re paying attention.
- Communicative — proactive updates, not radio silence.
- Optimized — every page, every campaign, every workflow.
- Reliable — we deliver what we said we would, when we said we would.
- No Surprises — clients hear about problems from us first, not later.
If those five words describe how you already work, you’ll fit here.
What you’ll own
- Day-to-day client relationships, weekly updates, monthly and quarterly reports, and client meetings via phone, video, or in-person.
- The portfolio in Asana — sprint planning, deadline tracking, and proactive slip communication.
- Client records, communications, and pipeline activity in HubSpot.
- Producing and editing blog posts, service pages, and supporting content at volume.
- Publishing in WordPress, including redirects, internal links, and image optimization.
- Google Business Profile management — listings, categories, posts, photos, Q&A, and reviews.
- Designing client deliverables in Canva — featured images, social graphics, one-pagers, and simple ad creative.
- Social media production and posting cadence across client accounts.
- Coordinating with the dev team — scoping tickets, writing clear briefs, and QA before anything goes live.
- Site QA on rotation — usability, redirects, broken links, page speed, and conversion friction.
- Onboarding new clients within the timelines we commit to.
- Staying current on SEO, AI search, and digital marketing developments.
What you bring
- Four or more years of agency-side experience in SEO, content, account management, or digital marketing.
- Hands-on experience with the tools listed above (Asana, HubSpot, WordPress, GBP, Canva, social platforms), with examples to point to.
- AI fluency that goes beyond casual use — you direct AI, you edit it, you catch when it’s wrong.
- Google Business Profile management experience — you’ve optimized listings, managed reviews, and understand how GBP ties into local pack rankings.
- Excellent client communication. Comfortable with senior marketing leaders and small-business owners alike.
- Excellent team communication — clear, concise, proactive with the people you work alongside every day.
- Out-of-the-box thinking and a love-to-learn, love-to-grow attitude. The AI world won’t stop changing; neither should you.
- Strong editing chops across multiple voices and audiences.
- Basic HTML and CSS, so small fixes don’t require dev time.
- Sharp analytical instincts — comfortable in Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEMrush, and similar SEO tools.
- A track record of dependability, your references will confirm without hesitation.
Nice to have
- Additional marketing experience — paid media, email marketing, marketing automation, CRO.
- Familiarity with AI search and generative engine optimization (GEO/AEO).
- Schema markup literacy (FAQ, Service, LocalBusiness, Article).
- Houston-based.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year

Marketing Specialist Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a marketing specialist job in Houston?
Focus your search on Houston's three strongest hiring sectors: energy and petrochemical companies along the Energy Corridor, large hospital systems and medical device firms in the Texas Medical Center area, and technology and professional services firms clustered in Greenway Plaza and Uptown. Candidates who can show campaign analytics experience, familiarity with B2B content marketing, or prior work in a regulated industry tend to stand out in Houston's market.
Which companies hire marketing specialists in Houston?
Companies currently hiring marketing specialists in Houston include Fluor, KBR, and Arup, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Houston's hiring mix leans toward large enterprise employers in energy and healthcare, alongside a growing number of mid-size technology and professional services firms headquartered or regionally based here.
Are there remote marketing specialist jobs in Houston?
Yes, though availability depends on the role: digital, content, and demand generation positions are frequently remote, while brand, event, and field marketing roles typically require on-site presence. About 58% of marketing specialist openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of September 2026. Analytics-heavy and digital-focused roles are the most likely to offer full remote flexibility from Houston.
How can I get a marketing specialist job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is through coordinator or marketing assistant roles at mid-size energy services, healthcare, or logistics companies, which tend to hire locally and promote from within. Houston's large hospital networks and regional banks also run structured marketing programs that bring in early-career candidates. Building a portfolio with real campaign results, even from freelance or volunteer projects, gives you a concrete edge over other entry-level applicants in this market.
