Business Development Executive Jobs in Hawaii: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business development executive in Hawaii?
Most business development executives in Hawaii start with a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field and build experience in sales, account management, or operations before moving into executive roles. Hawaii does not require a state-issued license specifically for this role, but experience in Hawaii's dominant sectors, including defense, tourism, and clean energy, accelerates hiring. Many employers also value familiarity with Hawaii's business community and government procurement processes.
Which companies hire business development executives in Hawaii?
Hawaii business development executive roles are posted by Hilton Grand Vacations, Marriott Vacations Worldwide, and Hyatt Vacation Ownership and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hawaii's mix of defense contractors, hospitality groups, and energy companies creates consistent demand for executives who can manage government and private-sector relationships across the islands.
Which Hawaii cities have the most business development executive jobs?
Honolulu, Lahaina, and Waikoloa are the Hawaii cities with the most business development executive openings. Honolulu accounts for the large majority of positions given its concentration of corporate headquarters, federal agencies, and tourism-sector companies, while Kailua-Kona and Kahului reflect growing hospitality and energy investment on the neighbor islands that requires dedicated business development leadership.
Are there remote business development executive jobs in Hawaii?
Yes, and they're more common than in many senior roles. About 19% of business development executive openings tied to Hawaii are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how much of the role involves relationship management and strategy work that can be done from anywhere. Client-facing responsibilities tied to government contracts or on-site partnership development tend to require in-person presence most frequently.
How can I get hired as a business development executive in Hawaii with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a business development associate or sales representative role at a Hawaii-based defense contractor or hospitality group, then progressing internally. Employers like Booz Allen Hamilton and AECOM hire early-career candidates into business development support roles focused on proposal writing and market research. A background in Hawaii government relations, military affairs, or tourism operations gives candidates without direct BD experience a credible foundation for advancement.
