Business Development Executive Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business development executive in New Jersey?
Most business development executive roles in New Jersey require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, though many employers in the state's pharma and financial sectors also value advanced degrees. There is no state-issued license specific to this role. Candidates typically progress through account management or sales roles at New Jersey-based firms before moving into executive-level positions. Building a record of closed deals and measurable revenue growth is the clearest path forward.
How much do business development executives make in New Jersey?
Business development executives in New Jersey earn a median of about $139,010 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $91,370 for the lowest 10% to over $191,050 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire business development executives in New Jersey?
Employers hiring business development executives in New Jersey right now include Genpact, HBSE, and Sandoz, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New Jersey's dense concentration of pharmaceutical, financial services, and enterprise technology headquarters makes it one of the more active states for senior business development hiring.
Which New Jersey cities have the most business development executive jobs?
Avenel, Newark, and Princeton have the most business development executive openings in New Jersey. Newark anchors the market as the state's largest city and a hub for financial services and insurance firms, while Princeton draws heavily from the life sciences and research corridor along Route 1, and Edison's central location serves the region's technology and professional services employers who need proximity to both New York and Philadelphia.
Are there remote business development executive jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, and more than many fields, since business development work centers on calls, presentations, and relationship management that travel well outside an office. About 38% of business development executive openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the role's natural flexibility. Strategic and account-management functions tend to be the most remote-friendly, while roles requiring regular in-person client entertainment or executive briefings are more likely to require a local presence.
How can I get hired as a business development executive in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a business development representative or inside sales role at a New Jersey employer, where you build pipeline skills and product knowledge before moving up. Pharmaceutical companies along the Route 1 corridor and financial firms in Newark and Jersey City frequently hire associate-level commercial roles as a structured on-ramp. A demonstrated understanding of consultative selling, paired with a relevant internship or a certification in a recognized CRM platform, gives candidates without direct executive experience a meaningful edge in the application process.
Where can I find and apply to business development executive jobs in New Jersey?
You can find and apply to business development executive jobs in New Jersey on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your background and target market, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
