Sales Development Manager Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales development manager in New Jersey?
Sales development manager roles in New Jersey do not require a state-issued license or certification. Most employers expect several years of experience as a sales development representative or inside sales rep, followed by a move into a lead or senior SDR role before stepping into management. A bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or communications is the standard baseline. Familiarity with the industries dominant in New Jersey, particularly pharmaceuticals, financial services, and enterprise technology, strengthens a candidate's profile considerably.
How much do sales development managers make in New Jersey?
Sales development managers in New Jersey earn a median of about $173,020 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $103,580 for the lowest 10% to over $308,630 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales development managers in New Jersey?
New Jersey sales development manager roles are posted by AT&T, C.A. Ferolie, and BSO and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New Jersey's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters in sectors like life sciences, insurance, and technology services means openings appear regularly across both large enterprise employers and well-funded regional growth companies.
Which New Jersey cities have the most sales development manager jobs?
New Jersey, Jersey City, and Hoboken have the most sales development manager openings in New Jersey right now. Newark and Jersey City anchor demand through their proximity to New York City financial and technology firms with New Jersey offices, while Princeton draws openings from the dense cluster of pharmaceutical and biotech headquarters in the central corridor, where companies like Johnson & Johnson and Bristol Myers Squibb run substantial commercial operations.
Are there remote sales development manager jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, and more than most management roles, given that sales development work is largely phone and email based. About 75% of sales development manager openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well the role translates to distributed team environments. The parts of the role most likely to stay fully remote are outbound coaching, pipeline reporting, and one-on-one rep development, while team onboarding and cross-functional alignment often pull managers back on site.
How can I get hired as a sales development manager in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving up from a senior SDR or team lead position within a New Jersey company rather than applying directly to manager roles. Large New Jersey employers in pharma, financial services, and enterprise software regularly promote internally, so joining as an SDR at a company like Cognizant, Conduent, or a mid-size SaaS firm headquartered in the Princeton or Parsippany corridor gives you visibility for internal promotions. Building a record of exceeding quota as an individual contributor and taking on informal coaching responsibilities for newer reps is what typically triggers a management conversation.
Where can I find and apply to sales development manager jobs in New Jersey?
You can find and apply to sales development manager jobs in New Jersey on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search for roles that match your experience level, specialization, and preferred location or work arrangement, then apply directly to the ones that fit. No sign-up is required to see the listings.
