Role Overview
Harvey is looking for a driven, strategic, and entrepreneurial Sales Development Manager to lead and scale a team of SDRs in Chicago and New York. This person will be responsible for building a high-performing team that generates pipeline across leading law firms, professional services organizations, and in-house legal teams. You will own hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management while partnering closely with Sales, Marketing, and RevOps to build a scalable pipeline generation engine. You'll also help shape Harvey's go-to-market strategy by refining targeting, messaging, and outbound programs that resonate with the North American legal market. If you're excited by the idea of building teams, developing talent, and driving impact at a fast-growing AI company transforming legal work, we'd love to meet you.
- Own pipeline performance: Drive the SDR team's contribution to pipeline generation across inbound and outbound channels, ensuring strong alignment with sales targets.
- Build and scale the team: Hire, onboard, and develop a high-performing SDR team, helping establish the structure, operating cadence, and performance standards for the New York market.
- Coach and develop SDRs: Deliver hands-on coaching through regular 1:1s, call reviews, and deal strategy sessions to accelerate rep development and performance.
- Design onboarding and enablement: Partner with GTM enablement to create onboarding and ongoing training programs that ramp SDRs quickly and build strong product, industry, and prospecting expertise.
- Partner cross-functionally: Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, and RevOps to improve lead routing, campaign effectiveness, and pipeline conversion.
- Refine targeting and messaging: Continuously test and improve outbound strategies, messaging, and account targeting based on ICP fit and performance insights.
- Leverage data and tools: Use platforms such as Salesforce, Salesloft, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Gong, and ZoomInfo to track team performance and optimize workflows.
- Build a strong team culture: Foster a high-performance culture grounded in ownership, learning, and collaboration.
What You Have
- 4+ years of experience in SaaS sales or business development, with at least 1–2 years of direct SDR or BDR leadership experience.
- Proven success in building and managing pipeline-generating teams in a high-growth, outbound-focused environment.
- Deep understanding of modern sales development tools (e.g., Salesforce, Salesloft, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Gong).
- A data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze team performance, uncover insights, and iterate quickly.
- Experience building SDR processes from scratch—comfortable in ambiguity and excited to be the architect of something new.
- A coaching-first leadership style: you invest in people, celebrate wins, and hold high standards with care.
- Excellent communication skills and executive presence—both internally and externally.
- Passion for AI, innovation, and the transformation of knowledge work—especially in professional services and legal.
- Ability to influence tech stack decisions—develop recommendations and drive implementation.
- Prior experience selling into legal or professional services firms is a plus but not required.

Tips for Your Sales Development Manager Job Search
Quantify pipeline metrics on your resume
Sales development manager resumes that list SDR headcount managed, quota attainment percentages, and pipeline-to-revenue ratios stand out immediately. Hiring managers scan for proof you've built and scaled a team, not just worked on one.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists sales development manager openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Target postings by sales motion type
Filter openings by whether the company runs an inbound-led, outbound-led, or product-led growth motion. Your resume and cover letter should match the motion explicitly, because SDR coaching philosophy differs significantly between each approach.
Prepare a 30-60-90 day ramp plan
Bring a written ramp plan to final-round interviews that outlines how you'd onboard the team, audit current sequences, and set targets. Sales development manager candidates who show this level of preparation consistently advance past those who don't.
Highlight the specific tools your team ran
Job descriptions frequently list Salesforce, Outreach, Salesloft, or Gong as requirements. Name each platform you administered or configured, not just used, since managers are expected to own the tech stack, not just work inside it.
Negotiate on variable comp structure, not base alone
When an offer arrives, ask how the variable component is structured for managers, specifically whether your bonus ties to team quota attainment or individual metrics. Understanding this split reveals how the company actually values the SDR function.
Sales Development Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most sales development managers?
The companies hiring the most sales development managers right now include Thermo Fisher Scientific, Takeda Pharmaceuticals, and ADP, with the largest share of openings in California, Texas, and New York, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. SaaS and enterprise software companies consistently account for the largest volume of postings in this role.
How many sales development manager jobs are remote?
About 33% of sales development manager openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how normalized distributed sales teams have become. Roles focused on outbound strategy and SDR coaching tend to offer the most remote flexibility, while positions tied to in-person sales floors or large onsite teams are more likely to require a physical presence.
How do you become a sales development manager?
Most sales development managers start as SDRs or account executives, then move into a senior SDR or team lead role before stepping into management. Building a record of consistent quota attainment, mentoring junior reps, and taking ownership of process improvements, like refining sequences or onboarding playbooks, signals readiness for the manager role to most hiring teams.
Can you get hired as a sales development manager with little experience?
Getting hired with limited management experience is possible if you can point to informal leadership, such as training new SDRs, owning a territory, or designing outreach sequences that others adopted. Smaller companies and startups are more open to promoting from within or hiring first-time managers, especially when a candidate brings strong SDR performance data and a clear coaching philosophy.
What does the sales development manager interview process look like?
The process typically begins with a recruiter screen focused on your SDR leadership background, followed by a hiring manager conversation about your management philosophy and team results. Later rounds often include a case study or mock coaching session where you demonstrate how you'd develop an underperforming rep or build a new outbound sequence. Final rounds usually involve a panel with sales leadership or a VP.
Where can I find and apply to sales development manager jobs?
You can find and apply to sales development manager jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States in one place. Find the roles that match your experience and target industry, then apply directly to each listing without leaving the platform.
