Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated, personable, and results-driven Service-to-Sales Representative to join our busy Honda dealership. This position is responsible for identifying sales opportunities among customers visiting our Service Department and creating a seamless transition from service to vehicle sales.
The ideal candidate understands that a service visit is often the perfect opportunity to help customers explore their vehicle ownership options. You will build relationships with service customers, identify potential trade-in and upgrade opportunities, and introduce customers to the Sales Department when the timing is right.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, is comfortable in a fast-paced dealership environment, and is motivated by performance and earning potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with customers waiting for or dropping off their vehicles in the Service Department.
- Build genuine relationships and create a positive, professional customer experience.
- Identify customers who may be good candidates for a new or pre-owned vehicle.
- Ask effective questions to understand customers' current vehicle, needs, payment, mileage, and future plans.
- Identify potential trade-in and upgrade opportunities.
- Coordinate with Service Advisors to identify customers whose vehicles may be approaching major repair needs or replacement cycles.
- Introduce qualified customers to the Sales Team and facilitate a smooth handoff.
- Conduct vehicle appraisals and assist customers in understanding their vehicle's potential trade value.
- Schedule sales appointments and follow up with customers who express interest.
- Maintain accurate customer information and follow-up activity in the dealership CRM.
- Work closely with Sales, Service, and Management to maximize dealership opportunities.
- Follow up with previous service customers regarding vehicle upgrades, lease maturity, trade opportunities, and new Honda products.
- Stay current on Honda models, features, technology, incentives, and available inventory.
- Meet or exceed established appointment, lead, and sales-performance goals.
- Maintain professionalism and a customer-first attitude at all times.
What We're Looking For
- Previous automotive, dealership, sales, service, or customer-service experience preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable approaching customers and starting conversations.
- Ability to recognize buying signals and create sales opportunities without being overly aggressive.
- Highly motivated, energetic, and self-directed.
- Excellent follow-up and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable using CRM systems, computers, phones, and dealership technology.
- Professional appearance and positive attitude.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
What Makes This Position Different
This is not a traditional "wait for ups" sales position. You will have access to a steady stream of customers already visiting our dealership and will be responsible for turning those relationships into legitimate sales opportunities.
Successful Service-to-Sales Representatives are excellent communicators who understand that the goal is not to pressure a customer into buying a vehicle. The goal is to recognize the opportunity, provide value, and help the customer determine whether upgrading or replacing their vehicle makes sense.

Service & Sales Representative Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a service & sales representative in New Jersey?
The path depends on the industry you enter. For insurance or financial services sales, New Jersey requires a state producer license issued through the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance, which involves completing pre-licensing coursework and passing a state exam. For other sectors like telecommunications or B2B technology, employers typically require a high school diploma or bachelor's degree combined with some customer-facing experience, with on-the-job training provided after hiring.
Which companies hire service & sales representatives in New Jersey?
Employers hiring service & sales representatives in New Jersey right now include Drivo, Ace Hardware, and Forshaw, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New Jersey's dense concentration of insurance carriers, pharmaceutical companies, and regional bank branches means these roles open frequently across both large corporate headquarters and local branch offices.
Which New Jersey cities have the most service & sales representative jobs?
Dover, Camden, and Edison have the most service & sales representative openings in New Jersey. Newark and Jersey City anchor the largest share of openings because of their concentration of financial institutions, insurance headquarters, and corporate offices, while Parsippany and Cherry Hill draw hiring from pharmaceutical companies and regional retail and telecom operations that serve suburban and South Jersey markets.
Are there remote service & sales representative jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, though they're more selective than fully office-based roles. About 25% of service & sales representative openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with remote arrangements more common in inside sales, account management, and customer success functions than in territory-based or retail-branch roles that require physical presence.
How can I get hired as a service & sales representative in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is an inside sales associate or customer service representative role, which large New Jersey employers use as a pipeline into full sales positions. Companies like Prudential and major telecom providers in the state run structured onboarding programs for candidates without prior sales experience. Earning a New Jersey producer license before applying gives candidates in insurance and financial services a clear advantage, and lateral moves from retail banking or customer support are common stepping stones.
Where can I find and apply to service & sales representative jobs in New Jersey?
You can find and apply to service & sales representative jobs in New Jersey on Migrate Mate, which lists current New Jersey openings updated regularly. Search the roles available, find the ones that match your background and preferred location, and apply directly through the listing. No signup is needed to see what's open.
