Service & Sales Representative Jobs in Virginia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a service & sales representative in Virginia?
Most Virginia employers hire service and sales representatives with a high school diploma and relevant customer service experience, though a degree in business or communications strengthens your application for corporate or B2B roles. If you pursue insurance-related positions, Virginia requires a state-issued Property and Casualty or Life and Health license through the State Corporation Commission's Bureau of Insurance, which involves passing a proctored exam. For general sales roles outside insurance, no state license is required, but completing product-specific certifications from your employer is common practice.
Which companies hire service & sales representatives in Virginia?
Companies currently hiring service & sales representatives in Virginia include Drybar, Shentel, and First Citizens Bank, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Virginia's concentration of financial institutions, defense-adjacent technology firms, and energy utilities means large, established employers in those sectors drive much of the ongoing demand.
Which Virginia cities have the most service & sales representative jobs?
Richmond, Ashburn, and Fairfax have the most service and sales representative openings in Virginia. Northern Virginia's dense corporate and government contracting economy anchors the largest share of postings, while Richmond's insurance, banking, and utilities headquarters and Virginia Beach's retail and telecommunications presence generate consistent volume in their respective regions.
Are there remote service & sales representative jobs in Virginia?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the specific function. About 25% of service and sales representative openings tied to Virginia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the mix of field, retail, and desk-based positions. Inside sales, account management, and customer solutions roles tied to software or financial products are the most likely to offer fully remote or hybrid arrangements, while roles requiring in-person client visits or retail floor presence remain on-site.
How can I get hired as a service & sales representative in Virginia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to retail banking, telecommunications, or insurance contact center positions, all of which run structured new-hire training programs in Virginia. Capital One's retail banking locations and Verizon's Virginia customer care centers regularly hire entry-level candidates and provide on-the-job product training. Moving laterally from a customer service associate, retail associate, or call center agent role is common, and obtaining a Virginia Property and Casualty exam qualification before applying gives candidates a meaningful edge for insurance-sector openings.
Where can I find and apply to service & sales representative jobs in Virginia?
