INTRODUCTION
BLOC Resources is seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Sales Representative – Lighting Services to support the growth of unregulated LED lighting sales within the assigned division. This position is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing strong customer relationships, and closing sales that contribute to revenue growth while delivering exceptional customer service.
The Sales Representative will serve as a primary point of contact for commercial and industrial customers seeking LED lighting solutions, outdoor lighting services, and related account support. This role requires a strong sales mindset, technical understanding of lighting products and services, and the ability to manage multiple projects from initial customer contact through project completion.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, understands consultative selling, and has the ability to evaluate customer needs, recommend solutions, and coordinate with internal teams to ensure successful execution.
Position Summary
The Sales Representative will actively pursue and close LED lighting sales opportunities within the unregulated lighting business. In addition to driving sales growth, this role supports customers with outdoor lighting service requests including installations, repairs, removals, relocations, and billing inquiries.
Success in this role requires strong communication skills, sound business judgment, technical product knowledge, and the ability to build trust with both internal stakeholders and external customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Development and Sales
- Proactively identify, pursue, and close new LED lighting sales opportunities within the assigned territory.
- Develop and maintain a healthy sales pipeline through prospecting, customer outreach, referrals, and relationship-building efforts.
- Meet or exceed all assigned sales targets, revenue objectives, and customer satisfaction goals.
- Conduct customer meetings, site visits, and consultations to assess lighting needs and identify opportunities for product and service recommendations.
- Prepare accurate and detailed sales proposals, lighting recommendations, pricing information, and customer presentations.
- Develop long-term account relationships that support repeat business and customer retention.
- Maintain awareness of market trends, customer demands, and competitive activity within the lighting industry.
Customer Relationship Management
- Serve as a trusted advisor to commercial and industrial customers regarding LED lighting products, outdoor lighting services, and available solutions.
- Respond promptly to customer requests related to lighting sales, billing questions, installations, repairs, removals, relocations, and general service inquiries.
- Research customer account information and service history to provide informed recommendations and timely resolution of issues.
- Deliver a high level of customer service that promotes long-term satisfaction and strengthens customer loyalty.
Project Coordination and Execution
- Coordinate with internal sales, operations, maintenance, and service teams to ensure projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Take ownership of assigned projects from initial customer engagement through final completion.
- Monitor project status, follow up on customer needs, and ensure all deliverables are met.
- Address customer concerns quickly and professionally to maintain a positive customer experience.
Administrative and System Responsibilities
- Utilize CSS and other internal systems to review customer account information, document case notes, enter repair orders, and update customer records.
- Maintain accurate sales activity documentation, customer communications, pipeline status, and project tracking records.
- Prepare reports, customer analyses, and related documentation as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Finance, Engineering, or a related field is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated success in sales, account management, customer development, or business development roles.
- Proven ability to meet or exceed sales goals and performance expectations.
- Experience with or knowledge of outdoor lighting systems, lighting design, lighting products, and lighting rates is strongly preferred.
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to manage customer expectations and resolve issues effectively.
- Working knowledge of company operations, policies, and procedures is preferred.
- Experience using CSS or similar customer information systems is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to research customer data and develop detailed recommendations.
- Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong computer proficiency, including experience preparing reports, proposals, and presentations.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing positively within a team environment.
- Demonstrated initiative, accountability, and ownership of assigned responsibilities.
- Strong relationship-building skills with both internal departments and external customers.
- High ethical standards and a strong commitment to compliance and professional conduct.
- Willingness to share sales best practices and contribute to the development of peers and team success.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must have access to a personal vehicle and the ability to travel throughout the assigned sales territory on a daily basis.
- Frequent local travel is required.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required based on customer or business needs.
