Technical Sales Representative
Location: Montgomery, AL
Reports To: Sales Manager
Position Type: Full-Time / Field-Based
Position Overview
Pratt Industries is looking for a dynamic, high-caliber Technical Sales Representative to champion a high-profile customer account in the Montgomery region. This isn't just a sales role—it is a strategic partnership. You will blend deep technical packaging expertise with sharp commercial acumen to optimize our customers' supply chains, troubleshoot manufacturing processes on the fly, and introduce innovative sustainable packaging solutions. If you are an expert relationship-builder who loves solving complex engineering and logistics puzzles, you will thrive as the vital link between our customer's operations and Pratt’s manufacturing power.
Key Responsibilities
1. High-Touch Customer Engagement
- Strategic Relationship Management: Act as the elite, primary point of contact for prominent Pratt customers, deeply understanding their overarching business priorities and product goals.
- Pipeline & Partnership Growth: Proactively prospect and consult with prospective clients, translating their technical requirements into high-value Pratt partnerships.
- End-to-End Account Support: Steward clients through the entire sales lifecycle—from initial discovery to ongoing post-sale support and account expansion.
2. Technical Consultation & On-Site Optimization
- Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as a trusted advisor, leveraging a deep knowledge of Pratt’s advanced materials, structural technologies, and sustainable industry trends.
- On-Site Diagnostics: Step onto the customer’s manufacturing floor to help troubleshoot, audit, and optimize the operational performance of Pratt packaging within their production lines.
- Technical Advisory: Provide engineering and material recommendations that maximize packaging durability while reducing overall waste and cost.
3. Solution Development & Cross-Functional Alignment
- Custom Engineering: Partner with clients to design bespoke packaging solutions that flawlessly align with their product specifications, branding, and budget.
- Internal Orchestration: Bridge the gap between the field and the plant—working hand-in-hand with Pratt design, production, and logistics teams to ensure seamless delivery.
4. Market Strategy & Revenue Growth
- Territory Domination: Develop and execute localized, data-driven sales strategies to confidently hit and exceed revenue milestones.
- Market Intelligence: Keep a pulse on competitor movements, shifting supply chain dynamics, and emerging packaging tech to keep Pratt ahead of the curve.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field—OR equivalent, proven hands-on experience within the Packaging Industry.
- Proven Track Record: Solid experience in technical B2B sales (experience specifically within corrugated packaging, logistics, or industrial manufacturing is highly preferred).
- Industry Literacy: A strong grasp of packaging substrates, modern manufacturing automation, and complex supply chain logistics.
- Elite Soft Skills: Exceptional negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills. You should feel just as comfortable presenting in a corporate boardroom as you do chatting with a plant manager.
- Sales Tech: Experience leveraging CRM tools to effectively manage pipelines, log client touchpoints, and track sales metrics.
- Mobility: A results-oriented self-starter willing to travel within the assigned regional territory to meet clients face-to-face.
