Technical Sales Specialist Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a technical sales specialist in Texas?
Most Texas employers require a bachelor's degree in an engineering, science, or business discipline matched to the product line, such as mechanical engineering for industrial equipment or biology for medical devices. No statewide sales license applies to this role, but specialties like medical device sales often require manufacturer certification programs. Building product knowledge through an applications engineering or inside sales role at a Texas manufacturer or distributor is the most common entry path.
How much do technical sales specialists make in Texas?
Technical sales specialists in Texas earn a median of about $130,610 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $78,730 for the lowest 10% to over $201,850 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire technical sales specialists in Texas?
Employers hiring technical sales specialists in Texas right now include ABB, Halliburton, and Nokia, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of energy, aerospace, and health system headquarters means demand stays consistent across the state even outside of peak hiring cycles.
Which Texas cities have the most technical sales specialist jobs?
Houston, Coppell, and Carrollton have the most technical sales specialist openings in Texas. Houston leads because of its dense petrochemical, energy, and industrial manufacturing base, Dallas-Fort Worth reflects the region's large enterprise software and telecom employer presence, and Austin's growth in semiconductor and cloud technology companies has steadily expanded the market there.
Are there remote technical sales specialist jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely desk-based roles, because the job typically involves on-site product demonstrations and customer visits. About 22% of technical sales specialist openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, covering territory-wide roles where travel replaces a fixed office. Pre-sales, solution consulting, and inside technical sales positions are the sub-roles most likely to allow full remote or hybrid schedules.
How can I get hired as a technical sales specialist in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an inside sales or sales development role at a Texas industrial distributor or manufacturer, where product training is structured and quotas are lower. Companies like Grainger, Emerson, and Roper Technologies run rotational sales associate programs from their Texas offices that are open to recent graduates. Earning a relevant manufacturer certification, such as a controls or instrumentation credential from a community college through the Texas State Technical College system, strengthens an application before you have a full sales record.
Where can I find and apply to technical sales specialist jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to technical sales specialist jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings, find the roles that fit your background and location, and apply directly to each one.
