Technical Sales Specialist Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a technical sales specialist in Pennsylvania?
Most employers in Pennsylvania expect a bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as engineering, chemistry, or information technology, paired with some form of sales or customer-facing experience. No state-issued license is required for the general technical sales specialist role, but candidates selling medical devices should be familiar with FDA compliance expectations, and those in life sciences often strengthen their profile by completing a manufacturer-authorized product certification before interviewing with Pennsylvania employers.
How much do technical sales specialists make in Pennsylvania?
Technical sales specialists in Pennsylvania earn a median of about $98,500 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $62,960 for the lowest 10% to over $140,820 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire technical sales specialists in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring technical sales specialists in Pennsylvania right now include H&R Block, CNH Industrial, and TAIT, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Pennsylvania's dense concentration of life sciences, advanced manufacturing, and enterprise technology companies means openings appear across both established multinationals with regional offices and mid-market firms headquartered in the Philadelphia suburbs and the Pittsburgh metro.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most technical sales specialist jobs?
Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and New Holland account for the largest share of technical sales specialist openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia dominates because of its dense corridor of pharmaceutical and biotech firms stretching into the surrounding suburbs, while Pittsburgh draws demand from industrial automation and healthcare technology employers, and smaller markets appear where major manufacturers or distribution hubs anchor local commercial activity.
Are there remote technical sales specialist jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, though they are limited, because technical sales work typically requires in-person product demonstrations, site visits, and relationship building with clients. About 60% of technical sales specialist openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those positions tend to concentrate in software or SaaS-oriented roles where the product can be demonstrated digitally rather than on a factory floor or in a clinical setting.
How can I get hired as a technical sales specialist in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a sales development representative or inside sales associate role at one of Pennsylvania's large life sciences or industrial technology companies, where structured onboarding and product training substitute for prior experience. Employers such as Siemens and West Pharmaceutical Services periodically hire early-career candidates into rotational commercial programs. A completed engineering or science degree, a manufacturer product certification, or demonstrated familiarity with CRM tools all give candidates a meaningful edge when applying without a sales history.
Where can I find and apply to technical sales specialist jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to technical sales specialist jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current Pennsylvania openings updated regularly. Search the listings for roles that match your technical background and territory preference, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
