Business Development Executive Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business development executive in Pennsylvania?
There is no state-issued license required to work as a business development executive in Pennsylvania. Most employers expect at least a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field, and many prefer an MBA for senior roles. Pennsylvania employers typically promote from inside sales, account management, or marketing roles, so building a record in one of those areas at a Philadelphia or Pittsburgh firm is one of the most common paths into an executive-level position.
How much do business development executives make in Pennsylvania?
Business development executives in Pennsylvania earn a median of about $98,500 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $62,960 for the lowest 10% to over $140,820 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire business development executives in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring business development executives in Pennsylvania right now include TRI-M, Medisca, and Perry Food, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of financial services firms, healthcare systems, and enterprise technology companies means demand for this role stays relatively steady throughout the year.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most business development executive jobs?
Philadelphia, Kennett Square, and Pennsylvania have the most business development executive openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia leads because of its dense cluster of financial services, life sciences, and professional services headquarters, while Pittsburgh draws strong demand from technology companies and healthcare networks, and the Lehigh Valley has grown as a secondary hub thanks to corporate expansions by large regional employers.
Are there remote business development executive jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, and more than many fields, since business development work is primarily relationship-driven and communication-based rather than tied to a physical facility. About 67% of business development executive openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly this role has shifted toward flexible arrangements. Strategic account management and partnership development functions tend to carry the most remote flexibility, while roles requiring regular on-site client presence in industries like healthcare or manufacturing are more likely to be in-person.
How can I get hired as a business development executive in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a business development representative or inside sales associate role at a Philadelphia or Pittsburgh technology or financial services company, where promotion timelines into executive-level positions are often clearly defined. Large Pennsylvania employers like Comcast and PNC run structured sales development programs that accept candidates without extensive prior experience. Building a record in account management, marketing coordination, or client success roles also opens the door, and completing a relevant MBA program at Temple University or Carnegie Mellon's Tepper School can accelerate the transition significantly.
Where can I find and apply to business development executive jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to business development executive jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current Pennsylvania openings updated regularly. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level and target industry, then apply directly to the ones that fit your background.
