Business Development Specialist Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business development specialist in Pennsylvania?
Most business development specialist positions in Pennsylvania require a bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field, though no state-issued license is required for the role itself. Employers in regulated sectors like financial services may expect candidates to hold a FINRA Series 7 or Series 63 registration. Building experience through inside sales, account coordination, or client-facing roles at Pennsylvania companies is the most direct path to a specialist-level position.
How much do business development specialists make in Pennsylvania?
Business development specialists in Pennsylvania earn a median of about $68,760 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $34,160 for the lowest 10% to over $128,810 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire business development specialists in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring business development specialists in Pennsylvania right now include Sinclair Broadcast, Amplity, and USJEDU, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Pennsylvania's dense concentration of healthcare systems, financial institutions, and technology companies means hiring is broad across industries and not limited to any single sector.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most business development specialist jobs?
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and York have the most business development specialist openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia leads due to its concentration of corporate headquarters, financial services firms, and healthcare networks, while Pittsburgh's growing technology and healthcare sectors drive demand there, and suburban markets like King of Prussia attract openings from large professional services and insurance employers headquartered along the Route 202 corridor.
Are there remote business development specialist jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, and more than most fields, because business development work is largely relationship-driven and conducted over phone, video, and email rather than requiring a fixed on-site presence. About 33% of business development specialist openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how widely distributed the role has become. Prospecting, pipeline management, and proposal development are the functions most commonly performed fully remotely.
How can I get hired as a business development specialist in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting in an inside sales representative or sales development representative role, which Pennsylvania employers across healthcare, technology, and financial services use as a direct feeder into business development positions. Companies like Comcast and UPMC run structured sales associate programs that provide product training and mentorship for candidates without prior experience. Completing a CRM certification such as Salesforce Administrator and building a portfolio of cold outreach or lead generation results significantly strengthens early-career applications.
Where can I find and apply to business development specialist jobs in Pennsylvania?
