Business Development Professional Jobs in Hawaii: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business development professional in Hawaii?
There is no state-issued license required to work as a business development professional in Hawaii. Most employers look for a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, along with demonstrated experience in sales or client management. Hawaii's market rewards candidates who understand local industries such as tourism, defense, and healthcare, so building domain knowledge in those sectors strengthens applications considerably.
Which companies hire business development professionals in Hawaii?
Hawaii business development professional roles are posted by Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, Hilo Benioff Medical Center, and Service Corporation International and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hawaii's mix of defense contractors, resort operators, and healthcare systems creates steady, year-round demand across multiple sectors.
Which Hawaii cities have the most business development professional jobs?
Hilo, Honolulu, and Kapaa are the cities with the most business development professional openings in Hawaii. Honolulu dominates because it is home to the state's largest concentration of corporate headquarters, defense contractors, and healthcare networks, while Maui and Hilo attract openings tied to resort development, government services, and regional economic growth.
Are there remote business development professional jobs in Hawaii?
Yes, and more than most fields, because business development work is largely relationship-driven and can be conducted through calls, video meetings, and digital outreach. About 0% of business development professional openings tied to Hawaii are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting broad flexibility across industries. Strategic partnership and account management roles tend to be the most remote-accessible within this profession.
How can I get hired as a business development professional in Hawaii with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an inside sales or account coordinator role at a Hawaii hospitality company, healthcare system, or defense contractor, where the scope of responsibility is narrower and training is built in. A strong portfolio of self-initiated projects, community partnerships, or volunteer leadership in Hawaii-based organizations can substitute for formal experience and stands out in a relationship-driven market.
