Sales Engineering Manager Jobs in Hawaii: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales engineering manager in Hawaii?
Most sales engineering managers in Hawaii move into the role after several years as a sales engineer or technical account manager, typically after earning a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field. Hawaii does not require a state-issued license specific to this management role. Candidates with experience selling to federal agencies or defense contractors based in Honolulu or Pearl Harbor tend to be most competitive given the makeup of Hawaii's enterprise market.
How much do sales engineering managers make in Hawaii?
Sales engineering managers in Hawaii earn a median of about $116,340 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $71,290 for the lowest 10% to over $218,870 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales engineering managers in Hawaii?
Companies currently hiring sales engineering managers in Hawaii include County of Hawaii, Hilton Grand Vacations, and Consor, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Defense contractors and telecommunications providers anchored in the Honolulu metro account for a significant share of ongoing hiring.
Which Hawaii cities have the most sales engineering manager jobs?
Honolulu, Lahaina, and Hawaii have the most sales engineering manager openings in Hawaii. Honolulu drives the largest share of demand because it is home to the state's major defense installations, enterprise IT firms, and telecommunications headquarters, while nearby areas like Kapolei and Kailua-Kona see openings tied to regional government contractors and commercial technology providers expanding outside the urban core.
Are there remote sales engineering manager jobs in Hawaii?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely desk-based roles, since sales engineering managers often need to meet clients and lead on-site demos. About 100% of sales engineering manager openings tied to Hawaii are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting a role that blends field engagement with administrative and strategic work. Pre-sales strategy, pipeline reviews, and team coaching are the parts of the job most likely to be performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a sales engineering manager in Hawaii with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is moving up from a sales engineer or systems engineer role at one of the defense or technology contractors operating in Honolulu, then stepping into a team-lead position before pursuing a full manager title. Employers like Booz Allen Hamilton and Leidos often promote internally and value candidates who hold or are eligible for a federal security clearance. Building a record in technical presales within the government contracting sector, even in an individual contributor role, is the clearest entry point in Hawaii's market.
