Sales Engineering Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales engineering manager in Texas?
Most sales engineering managers in Texas move into the role after several years as an individual-contributor sales engineer or solutions architect, combined with a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline. Texas employers in energy technology, enterprise software, and industrial automation typically promote from within or hire candidates who can show experience closing complex deals and mentoring junior engineers. A Professional Engineer license issued by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers is not required for most commercial roles but can strengthen candidacy in infrastructure or industrial sectors.
How much do sales engineering managers make in Texas?
Sales engineering managers in Texas earn a median of about $136,020 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $68,750 for the lowest 10% to over $268,450 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales engineering managers in Texas?
Employers hiring sales engineering managers in Texas right now include Lockheed Martin, Atmos Energy Corporation, and HEB, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Texas's concentration of energy, defense, and enterprise technology companies means openings appear across a wider range of industries here than in most other states.
Which Texas cities have the most sales engineering manager jobs?
Dallas, Fort Worth, and Houston have the most sales engineering manager openings in Texas. Houston's energy and industrial automation sectors, Dallas's dense enterprise technology and telecom corridor, and Austin's fast-growing SaaS and semiconductor ecosystem together drive the distribution, with smaller concentrations in San Antonio tied to defense and IT services contractors.
Are there remote sales engineering manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than many technical roles, because the managerial and strategic portions of the job translate well to remote work. About 60% of sales engineering manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the role centers on calls, demos, and pipeline reviews rather than on-site visits. Customer discovery meetings and product demonstrations are the parts most likely to require in-person presence, especially in energy and industrial accounts.
How can I get hired as a sales engineering manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a sales engineering manager role after building experience as a sales engineer or solutions consultant, then stepping into team leadership within the same company. Large Texas employers in enterprise software and industrial technology regularly post associate sales engineer or technical sales development roles that serve as structured entry points. Earning a relevant vendor certification, such as those offered by Cisco, Salesforce, or AWS, gives candidates without management experience a concrete credential that resonates with Texas hiring teams, particularly in the Austin and Dallas technology corridors.
Where can I find and apply to sales engineering manager jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to sales engineering manager jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to Texas employers. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your experience and target industry, and apply directly to the positions that match.
