Marketing Communications Specialist Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a marketing communications specialist in Texas?
Most Texas employers require a bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or public relations as the foundation for this role. There is no state-issued license for marketing communications specialists in Texas, so hiring decisions hinge on education, portfolio work, and demonstrated campaign experience. Building hands-on experience through internships with Texas-based companies, a strong writing portfolio, and certifications in tools like Google Analytics or HubSpot Academy strengthens your candidacy considerably.
How much do marketing communications specialists make in Texas?
Marketing communications specialists in Texas earn a median of about $72,520 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $37,640 for the lowest 10% to over $135,710 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire marketing communications specialists in Texas?
Employers hiring marketing communications specialists in Texas right now include Houston Methodist, Copart, and Dell Technologies, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's mix of Fortune 500 headquarters, major healthcare networks, and fast-growing technology companies means openings exist across industries and company sizes statewide.
Which Texas cities have the most marketing communications specialist jobs?
Houston, Dallas, and Austin have the most marketing communications specialist openings in Texas. Dallas and Houston drive volume through their dense clusters of corporate headquarters, energy companies, and healthcare systems, while Austin's rapid tech-sector growth has made it a strong third market, with many startups and established firms competing for communications talent.
Are there remote marketing communications specialist jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields, because the core work of writing, campaign coordination, and digital publishing is well-suited to remote environments. About 33% of marketing communications specialist openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how widely distributed this work has become. Content creation, social media management, and email marketing roles tend to be the most remote-friendly sub-areas within the discipline.
How can I get hired as a marketing communications specialist in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a communications coordinator or marketing assistant role, which large Texas employers in healthcare, technology, and energy regularly hire at the junior level. Organizations like Texas health systems and Austin-area tech firms frequently take on new graduates in coordinator and associate communications positions. Building a portfolio through freelance writing, university newspaper work, or nonprofit communications strengthens applications significantly, and a digital marketing certificate from a recognized provider gives candidates a concrete credential to offset limited professional history.
Where can I find and apply to marketing communications specialist jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to marketing communications specialist jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings updated regularly. Find roles that fit your experience level and specialization, then apply directly to each position without any intermediary steps.
