Sales Engineering Manager Jobs in Alabama: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales engineering manager in Alabama?
Most sales engineering managers in Alabama follow a path that starts with an engineering or computer science degree, moves into a technical sales or sales engineering role, and advances to management after demonstrating both quota performance and the ability to mentor others. Alabama does not require a state-issued license specifically for sales engineering management. Employers in Huntsville's defense corridor and Birmingham's industrial sector typically promote from within, so building tenure at a manufacturer, defense contractor, or technology firm in the state is the most direct route.
How much do sales engineering managers make in Alabama?
Sales engineering managers in Alabama earn a median of about $124,040 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $66,050 for the lowest 10% to over $218,270 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales engineering managers in Alabama?
Employers hiring sales engineering managers in Alabama right now include Lockheed Martin, All.Space, and Merryweather Foam, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Alabama's defense, automotive manufacturing, and industrial technology sectors generate steady demand for this role across the state.
Which Alabama cities have the most sales engineering manager jobs?
Huntsville, Courtland, and Troy have the most sales engineering manager openings in Alabama. Huntsville leads because of its dense concentration of defense contractors and aerospace firms, while Birmingham's role as the state's commercial and financial hub attracts technology and industrial sales teams, and Mobile's port-adjacent manufacturing base drives demand for sales engineering leadership in logistics and heavy industry.
Are there remote sales engineering manager jobs in Alabama?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely analytical roles, since sales engineering managers typically travel to customer sites and oversee field teams. About 50% of sales engineering manager openings tied to Alabama are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, reflecting the hands-on and customer-facing nature of the work. The parts of the role most compatible with remote work are internal team coaching, proposal review, and technical documentation.
How can I get hired as a sales engineering manager in Alabama with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving from a sales engineer or technical account manager role into a team lead position at a mid-size Alabama manufacturer or technology integrator. Companies in Huntsville's defense corridor and Birmingham's industrial market frequently hire associate sales engineers and promote to management after a few years. Building expertise in a specific technical domain, such as industrial automation or defense systems, and earning a relevant engineering certification strengthens a candidacy considerably for Alabama employers who value deep product knowledge alongside leadership potential.
Where can I find and apply to sales engineering manager jobs in Alabama?
