Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring an active IL RN license and a minimum of 2 years of ED experience.

Details

• Emergency Department in a 205-bed hospital with a Level II NICU and Primary Stroke Center designation
• No trauma designation at this facility
• 24 beds plus 6 bays and 5 Fastrack beds
• 12-hour night shift, 7p-7a, 36 hours per week
• Average of 120 patients per day, ranging from neonates to geriatrics, with 10-12% pediatric cases
• Patient types include chest pain, dizziness, syncope, respiratory/cardiac arrest, strokes, sepsis, ortho, respiratory distress/failure, STEMI, and COVID
• RN patient ratio of 1:4-5, with ED boarding patients included in ratio and 5th patient being low acuity
• Two support teams covering 8 beds per team
• EPIC EMR preferred
• Uses Alaris and Pyxis equipment (RNs only)
• No floating required
• Weekend rotation with no set pattern based on unit needs, must be flexible to work 7 days a week
• Schedules provided 2 weeks in advance on a 4-week cycle
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• 1 shift of orientation, including 4 hours with unit educator and remainder with a preceptor

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• BLS, NIH Stroke Scale, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• TNCC certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
• Strong IV skills, cardiac rhythm interpretation/monitoring, foley and NGT placement/management, and ventilator management experience required
• Knowledge of STEMI, CVA, and sepsis treatment protocols required
• Medication titration experience required
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
• Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required

• Provide direct patient care within a fast-paced, high-volume Emergency Department
• Supported by charge nurse, designated RT 24/7, unit secretary (day shift only), mobility aide, and ED educator (Monday-Friday)
• Navy blue scrub color required for RNs

• RTO requests coordinated directly with ED Nurse Manager and ACM
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius rules
• Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for a travel assignment
