American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum position requiring 2+ years of unit experience and a CO or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum unit of a hospital setting
- Rotating day/night shifts (3x12 hours), 7:00-19:30 and 19:00-7:30
- 21 staffed beds with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Weekend shifts required per unit needs
- On-call requirement of 2 call shifts per 6-week schedule
- Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
- Epic EMR experience required
- Scrubs provided
Requirements
- Active RN license (CO or Compact) required
- Current certifications: BLS and NRP (AHA); AWHONN Intermediate and CLC preferred
- Minimum 2 years of Mother-Baby/Post Partum nursing experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Experience with IV therapy, administration of blood and blood products, and medication administration (antihypertensives, magnesium sulfate, pitocin)
- Experience with newborn care including cord care, newborn assessment, phototherapy, and discharge teaching
- Experience with postpartum care including fundus/lochia/perineum care, breastfeeding instruction, and care of cesarean section and vaginal delivery patients
- Experience in isolation precautions/PPE and vaccine administration
- Experience with pain management including opioids and PCA use
Additional Information
- Provide couplet care to postpartum mothers and newborns, including assessment, education, and procedural support
- Responsibilities include newborn care for infants with hypoglycemia, low birth weight, or large for gestational age status
- Support for patients experiencing postpartum hemorrhage, pregnancy-induced hypertension, and multiple births
- Completion of all facility-specific training modules required within the first week of assignment
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Maximum of 10 RTO days per 13-week contract, with blackout dates during high-census periods
- No blocked scheduling requests permitted
- Candidates previously employed by the health system may not be eligible for consideration
- Local candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are accepted
