Staff Pharmacist Jobs in Colorado: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a staff pharmacist in Colorado?
You must hold an active license from the Colorado State Board of Pharmacy to practice as a staff pharmacist in Colorado. The path starts with completing a Doctor of Pharmacy program at an ACPE-accredited institution, passing the NAPLEX and the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination, and submitting a licensure application to the Colorado State Board of Pharmacy. Pharmacists licensed in another state may apply for licensure by reciprocity through the same board.
How much do staff pharmacists make in Colorado?
Staff pharmacists in Colorado earn a median of about $156,030 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $120,410 for the lowest 10% to over $188,430 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire staff pharmacists in Colorado?
Companies currently hiring staff pharmacists in Colorado include Walmart, CVS Health, and Safeway, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Colorado's mix of large integrated health systems and high-volume retail pharmacy networks means consistent openings across both clinical and community pharmacy settings throughout the state.
Which Colorado cities have the most staff pharmacist jobs?
Colorado Springs, Sterling, and Grand Junction have the most staff pharmacist openings in Colorado. Denver anchors the market as the state's largest population center and home to major health systems and pharmacy chains, while Colorado Springs and Aurora generate steady demand through their own hospital campuses, specialty clinics, and retail pharmacy networks tied to large suburban populations.
Are there remote staff pharmacist jobs in Colorado?
Yes, but they're rare. Most staff pharmacist roles require on-site dispensing, patient counseling, and direct collaboration with clinical teams, making full remote work uncommon in this field. About 0% of staff pharmacist openings tied to Colorado are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions are most likely to involve telepharmacy services, medication therapy management, or specialty pharmacy consultation.
How can I get hired as a staff pharmacist in Colorado with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a post-graduate pharmacy residency program, and Colorado hosts PGY1 programs at UCHealth, Children's Hospital Colorado, and the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System. New graduates who cannot secure a residency often move into staff roles through pharmacy intern-to-staff pipelines at King Soopers Pharmacy or Walgreens Colorado locations, where intern experience transfers directly. Holding a current Colorado intern registration and completing immunization certification before graduation gives applicants a clear edge in Colorado's competitive new-grad market.
Where can I find and apply to staff pharmacist jobs in Colorado?
