- Clean Motor Vehicle Record with no major violations in the past three years

Tips for Your Truck Driver Job Search
List every CDL endorsement you hold
Recruiters filter by endorsement codes before they read anything else. Put your CDL class and all endorsements, Hazmat, Tanker, Doubles/Triples, Passenger, directly under your name at the top of your resume, not buried in a summary.
Quantify your clean driving record
Employers pull your Motor Vehicle Record on day one. State your accident-free years and any safety awards on your resume. A clean MVR with a specific number attached signals reliability faster than any generic phrase about professionalism.
Filter openings by haul type and home time
OTR, regional, and local runs have completely different schedules and pay structures. Decide which fits your life before you apply, then search specifically for that haul type. Applying to every listing wastes time and puts you in the wrong seat.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists truck driver openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing. Applying early gives your application the most visibility before a position fills.
Prepare for a pre-hire road skills test
Most carriers require a yard maneuver and road test before any offer is finalized. Practice backing into docks and parallel parking a 53-foot trailer. Fumbling a basic back-up maneuver on test day is the most avoidable reason qualified drivers lose offers.
Negotiate home time, not just base pay
OTR and regional carriers often have more flexibility on guaranteed home days than on cents-per-mile. Ask specifically how many nights per week you're guaranteed home and get it in writing. That detail affects your quality of life far more than a small rate difference.
Truck Driver Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most truck drivers?
The companies hiring the most truck drivers right now include Estes Express Lines, Dupre Logistics, and Sunbelt Rentals, with the largest share of openings in Texas, New Mexico, and Georgia, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Openings shift frequently, so checking back regularly gives you the clearest picture of where hiring is most active.
How many truck driver jobs are remote?
About 1% of truck driver openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, since the core of the role requires physically operating a vehicle on a set route or run. Dispatch coordination, load planning, and fleet management support roles within trucking companies account for nearly all of the remote-eligible positions in the industry.
How do you become a truck driver?
Start by obtaining a commercial learner's permit through your state DMV, which requires passing a written knowledge test. Enroll in a CDL training program at a community college or carrier-sponsored school, complete the required behind-the-wheel hours, and pass the skills and road tests to earn your CDL. Add any endorsements your target routes require, clear a DOT physical and drug screen, and apply to entry-level or training positions to build your log.
Can you get hired as a truck driver with no experience?
Yes, many carriers hire drivers with no prior commercial experience through company-sponsored CDL training programs, where you earn your license and work off the cost through a driving contract. Regional and local delivery fleets are generally more open to new CDL holders than long-haul OTR carriers. Having a clean MVR, passing your drug screen, and being flexible on haul type significantly improves your chances when experience is limited.
What does the truck driver interview process look like?
Most carriers start with a phone screen to verify your CDL class, endorsements, and driving history. An in-person interview follows, covering your familiarity with ELD systems, HOS rules, and how you handle breakdowns or delays. Nearly every offer is contingent on a pre-hire road test in the company's equipment, a DOT physical, and a drug and alcohol screening before your first dispatch.
Where can I find and apply to truck driver jobs?
You can find and apply to truck driver jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from companies across the United States. Search by haul type, location, or endorsement requirement to narrow results to roles that fit your license and schedule, then apply directly to each listing that matches.
