Pure Process is seeking a motivated Applications Engineer to join our team in Decatur, Alabama. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a recent engineering graduate to gain hands-on experience in the water and wastewater treatment industry while developing both technical and professional sales skills.
The successful candidate will work directly with experienced sales engineers, equipment manufacturers, consulting engineers, municipalities, and industrial customers to assist with equipment selection, system design, technical proposals, and project coordination.
This position combines engineering, technical sales, and customer interaction, with an emphasis on developing long-term relationships and solving real-world engineering challenges.
The initial role will be based in our Decatur office, with approximately 12–24 months of hands-on training and experience. Our long-term goal is to develop this individual into an Outside Sales Engineer responsible for managing and growing a territory along the Gulf Coast.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist outside sales engineers with equipment selection, sizing, and application engineering.
- Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and project requirements.
- Prepare equipment quotations, technical proposals, and budget estimates.
- Work with equipment manufacturers to develop solutions for municipal and industrial water and wastewater treatment applications.
- Support the design and selection of pumping systems, screening equipment, filtration systems, chemical feed equipment, and other treatment technologies.
- Communicate directly with consulting engineers, contractors, municipalities, and industrial customers.
- Assist with equipment submittals, project coordination, and technical documentation.
- Participate in customer meetings, jobsite visits, equipment inspections, and system startups.
- Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting support.
- Develop relationships with customers, consulting engineers, and manufacturing partners.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline.
Recent graduates and graduating seniors are encouraged to apply.
Prior water or wastewater industry experience is not required.
