JOB TITLE: Quality Lab Supervisor
DIVISION: CSP

SITUATION IN ORGANIZATION
This position will report to the Operations Manager. All of the QC lab technicians will report to the Quality Lab Supervisor.
JOB DIMENSIONS
This position will be the plant focal point for raw materials and finished products quality, customer issues, and the safe operation and maintenance of the quality labs in the plant for multiple business units (CSP, HPP, PMC). This individual will lead efforts to integrate the lab, lab personnel, and instrumentation towards assisting the plant in investigating product quality issues. Accountable for QC lab analysis, instrumentation maintenance/calibration, training of operators in satellite labs, directing other QC lab technicians.

KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The safe operation, housekeeping, and maintenance of all labs.
- Coordinating activities associated with daily lab operations and ensuring that raw material and finished goods QC testing is done in a timely, professional manner.
- Assisting in the decision of material disposition and being active with other departments in resolving quality issues.
- Completion of the daily QC reports completed and updated in a timely manner.
- Responsible for new method development and implementation. Conducting gage R&R studies for the plant to communicate methodology variability. If variability is excessive, take steps to modify to reduce.
- Developing employees and assist in resolving employee issues.
- Maintain lab equipment in safe and correct operating conditions.
- Responsible for representing the plant in customer issues/concerns and assuring their appropriate resolution as well.
- Supporting the ISO Quality System and requirements to maintain the ISO-9001 certification.
- Assuring environmental testing is performed in time and form as well as necessary reports.
- Ensure accurate and consistent testing procedures are being followed with lab procedures being reviewed and updated. Includes the creation of new procedures when necessary.
- Coordinate with engineers and R&D on lab requirements for plant projects.
- Manage system to ensure all calibrations of lab equipment for the plant are completed by their due date.
- This position will be one in which the individual will be an active QC resource performing equipment/area lab support, calibrations, and performing samples/tests when necessary.
- Daily integration with Production personnel and management relative to quality issues. Actively support area labs with equipment, knowledge, and training. Work with the Process Technology group to utilize the labs as a means to investigate processing issues.
- Provide direction and support for the other members of the QC lab.
- Investigate and resolve satisfactorily customer related issues.
CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT
The job holder will lead lab operations that include all area labs and the main QC lab at the Mobile plant. The job holder will also perform basic lab technician duties as necessary.

- As required, initiates and participates in Root Cause Investigations.
- Understands and executes Emergency Response procedures to mitigate unplanned events in the process.
- Comply with all standard procedures and work instructions, aka SP, SOP, PWI, TM, to ensure productivity, quality assurance and cost effectiveness.
- Review their work areas for potential losses and Report hazards to the direct supervisor.
- Report Near Misses to the direct supervisor.
- Report Incidents or Accidents to the direct supervisor.
- Identify and communicate potential gains or possible improvements to the management system.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS/WORK EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field required.
7-10 years of laboratory experience required. Manufacturing lab experience preferred.
2 years of leadership experience required. Direct supervisory experience preferred.
Working knowledge of various lab techniques and equipment.
Solid computing skills including Microsoft Office Suite and SAP required.
