Lead Two Growing Branches. Build the Future. Share in the Success.
We're seeking an experienced General Manager to lead offices in Birmingham and Huntsville, Alabama for a well-established mechanical contractor specializing in mechanical installation, service, and building automation controls.
This is an opportunity to step into a business with an outstanding reputation, a loyal customer base, and an experienced team. This company has built its success on long-term relationships—with both customers and employees—and offers a family-oriented culture with historically low turnover.
One of the biggest opportunities for the incoming General Manager is to accelerate the growth of the service division by expanding recurring maintenance agreements, deepening customer relationships, and leveraging the company's outstanding reputation to capture additional market share. You'll have the autonomy and support to grow both branches, develop your teams, strengthen customer relationships, and directly benefit from the success you help create through an uncapped profit-sharing commission plan.
If you're entrepreneurial, people-focused, and excited about growing a business while maintaining a healthy work-life balance, we'd love to talk.
- Lead the overall operations, financial performance, and strategic growth of the Birmingham and Huntsville branches.
- Develop and execute business plans that drive revenue, profitability, and market share.
- Build, mentor, and develop high-performing teams across operations, service, construction, sales, and administration.
- Foster a culture centered on accountability, safety, teamwork, and exceptional customer service.
- Strengthen existing client relationships while identifying new business opportunities.
- Collaborate with estimating, project management, service, and controls teams to ensure projects are delivered successfully.
- Monitor branch financial performance, budgets, forecasting, and profitability.
- Recruit, coach, and retain top talent while developing future leaders within the organization.
- Ensure operational excellence while maintaining the company's outstanding reputation in the marketplace.
- Partner with executive leadership to identify opportunities for continued growth and expansion.
Qualifications That Will Lead To Success
- Leadership experience within a mechanical contractor, HVAC contractor, plumbing contractor, building automation controls company, or related building equipment or services environment.
- Proven experience managing branch operations, business units, or multiple departments is desired; however, senior service sales professionals interested in moving into a leadership role will be considered.
- Strong financial and operational business acumen.
- Demonstrated success developing employees and building strong teams, even if in a mentoring or team leader role.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Customer-first mindset with a passion for growing long-term partnerships.
- Ability to make sound business decisions while empowering others.
- Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required. Relevant industry experience is valued.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
This isn't a turnaround situation. It's a chance to build upon an already successful operation.
You'll be joining a company known for:
- An outstanding reputation throughout the industry
- Exceptional employee retention and long-tenured teams
- A collaborative, family-oriented culture where people genuinely enjoy coming to work
- Leadership that values autonomy, trust, and work-life balance
- Significant growth opportunities throughout Alabama and the Southeast
- The ability to make a meaningful impact without unnecessary corporate bureaucracy
- You'll have the resources, support, and flexibility to grow two successful branches while being rewarded for the results you deliver.
Compensation & Benefits

- Excellent benefits package includes medical insurance for employees and families that is 100% company paid

Which accounting companies sponsor Green Card visas in Alabama?
Large financial institutions and professional services firms account for most Green Card sponsorships in Alabama's accounting sector. Regions Financial Corporation and Protective Life in Birmingham, along with national accounting firms operating local offices, have filed PERM labor certification applications for accounting roles. Defense contractors in Huntsville such as Boeing and Lockheed Martin also sponsor accounting professionals supporting federal contracts, given the region's concentration of government and aerospace work.
Which cities in Alabama have the most accounting Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Birmingham generates the largest share of accounting Green Card sponsorship activity in Alabama, driven by its concentration of banking, insurance, and healthcare finance employers. Huntsville is a growing secondary market, particularly for government contractor accounting and financial compliance roles tied to the aerospace and defense industry. Mobile sees sponsorship primarily through port-related logistics firms, manufacturing companies, and regional CPA practices that handle multistate clients.
How do I find accounting Green Card sponsorship jobs in Alabama?
Migrate Mate lets you filter accounting jobs in Alabama specifically by Green Card sponsorship, showing verified employer filing history so you can focus on companies actively petitioning for permanent residence. This saves significant time compared to researching PERM applications manually through DOL disclosure data. Migrate Mate's listings are updated regularly, making it practical to track new openings in Birmingham, Huntsville, and Mobile as they appear.
What types of accounting roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Alabama?
Roles requiring specialized credentials or advanced expertise are most commonly sponsored. These include certified public accountants, audit managers, tax managers specializing in federal or international tax, and financial controllers. Cost accounting positions supporting Alabama's manufacturing and defense sectors also appear in PERM filings. Generally, roles requiring a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field combined with professional licensure or several years of specialized experience tend to meet the PERM labor certification requirements.
Are there any Alabama-specific considerations for accounting Green Card sponsorship?
Alabama employers sponsoring accountants through PERM must meet DOL prevailing wage requirements, which vary by metro area. Birmingham wages are generally higher than rural Alabama markets, affecting what employers must document and offer. The state's growing aerospace and defense sector in Huntsville means some accounting sponsorships involve obtaining security clearance eligibility, which can influence candidate selection. Alabama does not impose additional state-level immigration requirements beyond federal PERM and USCIS petition processes.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card accounting jobs in Alabama?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
