What You'll Do:
You will be responsible for mechanical diagnostics, repair and maintenance of diesel and gasoline industrial trucks, and any other industrial machinery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete inspections, maintenance and repairs on trucks, trailers, pickups, forklifts, and other heavy-duty equipment.
- Keep track of important system components such as diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, electrical systems, cooling systems, steering and suspension systems.
- Use maintenance software programs, laptops, and hand-held computers to aid in equipment diagnostics.
- Maintain proper service records on work completed in Vehicle Maintenance Systems (VMS) tracking parts and labor with clear, concise, and complete comments.
- Read and sign off on Daily Vehicle Inspection Records (DVIR) in Motive.
- Document systems accurately and in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Education & Credentials:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical school preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years of related experience with diesel and gasoline engines, and heavy equipment repair.
- Must be able to accurately and in a timely manner document maintenance and labor activities in the proper maintenance and compliance systems.
- Also, must be able to accurately record hours worked.
- Forklift certification is preferred and will be required after completion of the introductory period.
- Class A or B CDL is preferred.
- Willing to travel to other locations as needed, not longer than one week at a time.
Technical Skills:
- Familiar with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Competencies:
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal/external business partners.
- Function effectively with, or as part of, a team.
- Effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope.
- Prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
- Perform in a detail-oriented environment.
- Exercise considerable discretion and independent judgment.
- Analyze complex information requests and determine complex trends.
- Adapt to changing work demands.
- Work with minimal supervision and make independent technical decisions to make timely and effective repairs and maintenance.
- Identify safety hazards and necessary safety precautions to establish a safe work environment.
- Knowledge of office practices, procedures and etiquette.
- Knowledge of applicable computer applications and basic computer functions.
