Which companies in Arkansas sponsor visas for backend software developers?
Walmart Technology, headquartered in Bentonville, is Arkansas's largest visa sponsor for backend software developers, regularly filing H-1B petitions for roles in distributed systems, APIs, and cloud infrastructure. Dillard's and Stephens Inc. in Little Rock also have engineering teams that have sponsored work visas. Beyond those anchor employers, a growing number of logistics and supply chain software firms in Northwest Arkansas have entered the sponsorship market.
Which visa types are most common for backend software developer roles in Arkansas?
The H-1B is the most commonly used visa for backend software developers in Arkansas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. Candidates already holding Optional Practical Training authorization can work while an employer files an H-1B petition. Some multinational employers in the state also use the L-1B for intracompany transferees with specialized knowledge.
How to find backend software developer visa sponsorship jobs in Arkansas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by sponsorship willingness, so you can search backend software developer roles in Arkansas without sorting through companies that won't sponsor. Because Bentonville and Little Rock hold the heaviest concentration of tech employers in the state, focusing your search on those metros on Migrate Mate will surface the most relevant opportunities for server-side and API engineering roles.
Which cities in Arkansas have the most backend software developer sponsorship jobs?
Bentonville and the broader Northwest Arkansas corridor account for the majority of backend software developer sponsorship activity in the state, driven primarily by Walmart's technology division and its network of vendor and partner companies. Little Rock is the secondary hub, with financial services firms, state government IT contractors, and healthcare technology companies occasionally sponsoring backend engineers. Fayetteville, home to the University of Arkansas, also sees some activity from university-affiliated tech projects.
Are there state-specific considerations for backend software developers pursuing visa sponsorship in Arkansas?
Arkansas employers sponsoring H-1B workers must pay the Department of Labor's prevailing wage for the specific backend developer role and location, which differs between Bentonville and Little Rock metro areas. The University of Arkansas in Fayetteville produces a steady pipeline of computer science graduates, and some OPT students leverage that network to connect with Northwest Arkansas tech employers. Because the state's tech sector is heavily anchored around retail and supply chain technology, backend developers with experience in high-throughput systems or e-commerce infrastructure are particularly competitive.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored backend software developer jobs in Arkansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
