Which companies sponsor visas for registered nurses in Arkansas?
The largest visa-sponsoring employers for registered nurses in Arkansas include UAMS Health (the state's academic medical center), Baptist Health, Arkansas Children's Hospital, CHI St. Vincent, and Mercy Hospital. These health systems have established HR and immigration infrastructure to manage H-1B visa or EB-3 sponsorship. Smaller regional hospitals and staffing-affiliated facilities also sponsor, though their processes and timelines vary considerably.
Which visa types are most common for registered nurse roles in Arkansas?
Registered nurses in Arkansas most commonly obtain work authorization through the EB-3 immigrant visa (employment-based green card), which many health systems use for permanent placement. The H-1B is less straightforward for nursing because the specialty occupation requirement can be harder to meet, though advanced practice registered nurse roles qualify more readily. Some nurses also enter on TN visa status if they are Canadian or Mexican citizens.
Which cities in Arkansas have the most registered nurse sponsorship jobs?
Little Rock is the primary hub, home to UAMS Health, Baptist Health Medical Center, and Arkansas Children's Hospital, all of which regularly hire internationally trained nurses. Fayetteville and Bentonville in Northwest Arkansas are growing rapidly due to population expansion tied to Walmart's corporate presence, driving demand at Washington Regional Medical Center and Mercy Northwest Arkansas. Fort Smith is a secondary market with openings at Mercy and Baptist Health.
How to find registered nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Arkansas?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find registered nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Arkansas, as listings are filtered specifically for roles where employers have demonstrated willingness to sponsor work visas. Searching by state and role on Migrate Mate surfaces positions at Arkansas health systems that are actively hiring internationally trained nurses, saving time compared to manually checking individual hospital career pages or filtering out non-sponsoring employers.
Are there state-specific considerations for internationally trained nurses seeking sponsorship in Arkansas?
Arkansas requires internationally trained nurses to obtain a state nursing license through the Arkansas State Board of Nursing, which includes credential evaluation, an English proficiency test, and NCLEX-RN passage. Arkansas participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact, so nurses already licensed in another Compact state can practice in Arkansas without obtaining a separate license. UAMS and Arkansas Children's Hospital have relationships with international recruitment agencies experienced in managing this credentialing process alongside visa sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored registered nurse jobs in Arkansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
