Which companies sponsor visas for registered nurses in Mississippi?
The largest sponsoring employers in Mississippi tend to be health systems and hospital networks, including the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Singing River Health System, Merit Health, and Forrest Health. Staffing agencies that place travel and permanent nurses in Mississippi facilities have also filed H-1B and EB-3 petitions on behalf of registered nurses. Sponsorship availability varies by facility and hiring cycle, so confirming directly with the employer's HR or recruitment team is the right first step.
Which visa types are most common for registered nurse roles in Mississippi?
Registered nurses in Mississippi most commonly pursue sponsorship through the EB-3 immigrant visa category, which covers skilled workers and is frequently used for internationally trained nurses going through PERM labor certification. The H-1B is less common for nursing roles because registered nursing does not always meet the specialty occupation threshold, though some advanced practice or specialized nursing positions may qualify. Nurses from countries with specific treaty agreements should also review TN visa eligibility if applicable.
Which cities in Mississippi have the most registered nurse sponsorship jobs?
Jackson is the primary hub for registered nurse sponsorship in Mississippi, anchored by the University of Mississippi Medical Center and several large hospital campuses. Gulfport and Biloxi along the Gulf Coast also see consistent hiring through Singing River Health System and Memorial Hospital. Hattiesburg has demand driven by Forrest Health and Hattiesburg Clinic. Smaller rural markets like Tupelo and Meridian are worth monitoring as well, given the ongoing nursing shortage affecting facilities statewide.
How to find registered nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Mississippi?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international nurses and other healthcare professionals searching for visa-sponsored roles in the United States. You can filter directly for registered nurse positions in Mississippi to see employers that have a documented history of sponsoring work visas. Because sponsorship availability changes with hiring cycles, checking Migrate Mate regularly and setting up alerts for Mississippi nursing roles gives you the best chance of catching new openings as they post.
Are there any state-specific considerations for registered nurses seeking sponsorship in Mississippi?
Mississippi participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact, meaning nurses already licensed in another compact state can work in Mississippi without obtaining a separate state license, which can simplify the hiring process for internationally trained nurses who have already cleared NCLEX and obtained a compact license elsewhere. Mississippi's persistent rural nursing shortage has led many facilities to work with immigration counsel to support international recruitment, though the PERM and visa petition process still requires employer commitment, legal fees, and extended timelines.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored registered nurse jobs in Mississippi?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
