Which companies sponsor visas for registered nurses in Hawaii?
The largest visa-sponsoring employers for registered nurses in Hawaii include Hawaii Pacific Health, The Queen's Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente Hawaii, Maui Health System, and Hilo Medical Center. These health systems have established international recruitment programs and a documented history of filing H-1B visa and EB-3 petitions for foreign-trained nursing staff to address ongoing workforce gaps across the islands.
Which visa types are most common for registered nurse roles in Hawaii?
The EB-3 immigrant visa is the most common pathway for foreign-trained registered nurses in Hawaii, often paired with a Schedule A Group I designation, which allows employers to skip the PERM labor market test. The H-1B nonimmigrant visa is also used, though nursing roles must meet specialty occupation requirements. Some nurses enter initially on H-1B status while pursuing permanent residence through EB-3.
How to find registered nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Hawaii?
Migrate Mate lists registered nurse visa sponsorship jobs filtered specifically to Hawaii, so you can browse verified openings at hospitals and health systems across Oahu, Maui, and the Big Island without sifting through roles that don't offer sponsorship. Searching on Migrate Mate lets you filter by visa type and location, making it practical for internationally trained nurses targeting the Hawaiian market.
Which cities in Hawaii have the most registered nurse sponsorship jobs?
Honolulu on Oahu has the highest concentration of registered nurse sponsorship roles, driven by large facilities like The Queen's Medical Center and Pali Momi Medical Center. Maui's Kahului area, anchored by Maui Memorial Medical Center, is a secondary hub. Hilo and Kona on the Big Island also post sponsored nursing roles, particularly for rural health and critical access hospital settings.
Are there any Hawaii-specific considerations for registered nurses seeking visa sponsorship?
Hawaii requires registered nurses to hold an active Hawaii Board of Nursing license, and foreign-trained nurses must have their credentials evaluated through an approved body such as CGFNS. Hawaii's cost of living is among the highest in the United States, which health systems typically factor into compensation packages. The state's geographic isolation creates consistent demand, and several hospitals maintain active international recruitment pipelines year-round.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored registered nurse jobs in Hawaii?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
