Which companies sponsor visas for registered nurses in Missouri?
The largest sponsors for registered nurses in Missouri are major health systems, including BJC HealthCare (which operates Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children's Hospital), Mercy Health, MU Health Care in Columbia, and Children's Mercy Kansas City. These organizations have established international recruitment programs and documented histories of filing H-1B and employment-based immigrant visa petitions for nursing staff.
Which visa types are most common for registered nurse roles in Missouri?
Registered nurses in Missouri most commonly come through the EB-3 immigrant visa category, which is a permanent residency pathway commonly used for skilled workers including nurses. Some employers also file H-1B petitions for RN roles, though registered nursing positions must meet specialty occupation criteria for H-1B eligibility. Nurses from certain countries may also explore the H-1C or TN categories depending on nationality and role.
Which cities in Missouri have the most registered nurse sponsorship jobs?
St. Louis accounts for the highest concentration of sponsored registered nurse positions in Missouri, driven by the BJC HealthCare system and several large academic medical centers. Kansas City is the second-largest market, with major employers like Children's Mercy and Saint Luke's Health System. Columbia, home to MU Health Care and Boone Hospital Center, is a smaller but active market particularly for nurses in academic and specialty care settings.
How to find registered nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Missouri?
Migrate Mate aggregates visa sponsorship jobs specifically for international candidates, making it straightforward to filter for registered nurse openings in Missouri. Rather than sorting through general job boards, Migrate Mate focuses on roles where employers have sponsorship history, which is especially useful for RN positions where H-1B eligibility and EB-3 petition experience both matter when evaluating potential employers.
Are there any Missouri-specific considerations for international registered nurses seeking sponsorship?
Missouri requires registered nurses to hold an active Missouri RN license issued by the Missouri State Board of Nursing, and international applicants must have their credentials evaluated through a recognized credential evaluation service before licensure. Missouri is not a Nurse Licensure Compact state, so a license from another state does not transfer automatically. Employers at academic medical centers affiliated with the University of Missouri or Washington University often have more structured international hiring processes than smaller community hospitals.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored registered nurse jobs in Missouri?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
