Which companies sponsor visas for registered nurses in Montana?
Billings Clinic, SCL Health (now Intermountain Health), Providence St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, and Benefis Health System in Great Falls are among the Montana employers with histories of sponsoring international registered nurses. Critical Access Hospitals in rural counties also sponsor nurses, particularly where local recruitment has not met staffing needs. Sponsorship availability changes based on facility census and workforce planning cycles.
Which visa types are most common for registered nurses in Montana?
The EB-3 immigrant visa is the most established pathway for internationally trained registered nurses, typically paired with NCLEX passage, a VisaScreen certificate, and an approved Form I-140. The H-1B visa is less common for bedside nursing because many RN roles do not meet the specialty occupation standard, though advanced practice roles can qualify. TN visa status is available to Canadian and Mexican nurses under USMCA.
Which cities in Montana have the most registered nurse sponsorship jobs?
Billings is Montana's largest city and hosts its most concentrated healthcare market, making it the primary source of RN sponsorship activity. Missoula and Great Falls follow, anchored by regional medical centers serving wide geographic catchment areas. Smaller cities like Bozeman and Helena also have hiring activity, particularly as population growth strains local nursing supply in those communities.
How to find registered nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Montana?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship, so you can search registered nurse roles in Montana without sorting through positions that do not support international candidates. The platform surfaces openings at Montana health systems and Critical Access Hospitals that have indicated sponsorship willingness. Creating an account and setting location filters to Montana gives you a focused view of active RN sponsorship opportunities in the state.
Are there state-specific considerations for registered nurses seeking sponsorship in Montana?
Montana participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), meaning nurses licensed in other compact states can practice in Montana without obtaining a separate state license. International nurses must still pass NCLEX and apply for Montana licensure directly. Montana's rural geography means many sponsoring facilities are Critical Access Hospitals, which often offer loan repayment or relocation incentives alongside sponsorship to attract candidates to underserved communities.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored registered nurse jobs in Montana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
