Which companies sponsor visas for registered nurses in Indiana?
Indiana University Health, Ascension St. Vincent, Franciscan Health, and Community Health Network are among the larger health systems in Indiana with documented histories of sponsoring international nursing staff. Staffing agencies contracted by Indiana hospitals have also filed sponsorship petitions for RN roles. Sponsorship availability varies by facility, unit, and staffing needs at any given time, so it is worth confirming directly with each employer's HR or recruitment team.
Which visa types are most common for registered nurse roles in Indiana?
The H-1B visa and the EB-3 immigrant visa are the most common pathways for internationally trained registered nurses in Indiana. RN roles generally qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B standards given the degree requirement. The EB-3 is frequently used for permanent sponsorship and involves PERM labor certification. Some facilities also work with nurses holding TN visa status if they are Canadian or Mexican citizens, as RN is a listed TN occupation.
Which cities in Indiana have the most registered nurse sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis concentrates the highest volume of RN sponsorship opportunities in Indiana, driven by the density of major health systems and academic medical centers in the metro area. Fort Wayne and South Bend also have active RN hiring markets through regional hospital networks. Smaller cities like Evansville and Muncie have hospital employers as well, though sponsorship activity there tends to be lower and less consistent than in the state's primary metros.
How to find registered nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship roles, making it practical to search for registered nurse positions in Indiana without sorting through listings that don't offer sponsorship. You can browse by state and role to surface Indiana-based RN openings from employers who have indicated sponsorship willingness. Migrate Mate is designed for international candidates navigating U.S. work authorization, so the listings are relevant to your situation from the start.
Are there state-specific considerations for internationally trained nurses seeking RN jobs in Indiana?
Indiana is a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) member state, which means nurses who hold a multistate license from another compact state can practice in Indiana without obtaining a separate Indiana license. However, internationally trained nurses applying for their first U.S. RN license must still go through Indiana's State Board of Nursing, pass the NCLEX-RN, and often complete a credentials evaluation through an organization such as CGFNS. Employers typically require active licensure before sponsorship paperwork advances.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored registered nurse jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
