Which companies sponsor visas for registered nurses in Tennessee?
The largest sponsors of registered nurse visas in Tennessee include Vanderbilt University Medical Center, HCA Healthcare (which operates numerous facilities across the state), Ballad Health in northeastern Tennessee, Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare in Memphis, and Erlanger Health System in Chattanooga. These health systems have dedicated international recruitment programs and prior H-1B and EB-3 filing histories with the Department of Labor.
Which visa types are most common for registered nurses in Tennessee?
The EB-3 immigrant visa is the most common pathway for internationally trained registered nurses, as nursing is classified as a skilled worker occupation. Many nurses enter on a temporary TN visa if they hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship, or on an H-1B if the employer files a petition. Some health systems also use J-1 exchange visitor visas for clinical training, though that pathway has stricter post-completion obligations.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most registered nurse sponsorship jobs?
Nashville has the highest concentration of registered nurse sponsorship opportunities, driven by Vanderbilt University Medical Center and a dense cluster of HCA Healthcare facilities. Memphis is the second-largest market, anchored by Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare and Regional One Health. Chattanooga, Knoxville, and the Tri-Cities area (Johnson City, Kingsport, Bristol) also have active hiring from regional health systems with documented sponsorship histories.
How to find registered nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically to show registered nurse roles in Tennessee where employers have active or prior visa sponsorship activity. Rather than sorting through general job boards, you can search on Migrate Mate by role and state to surface hospitals and health systems that have filed Labor Condition Applications or EB-3 petitions for nursing positions, which is a practical signal of genuine sponsorship intent.
Are there any Tennessee-specific considerations for registered nurse visa sponsorship?
Tennessee participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), meaning nurses licensed in another compact state can practice in Tennessee without obtaining a separate state license. Internationally trained nurses still need to pass NCLEX-RN and obtain a Tennessee or compact state license before beginning work. Employers in the state's Certificate of Need-regulated hospital market tend to hire in cycles tied to bed capacity approvals, so job availability can shift across quarters.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored registered nurse jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
