Which companies sponsor visas for registered nurses in Colorado?
UCHealth, SCL Health (now Intermountain Health), CommonSpirit Health, Children's Hospital Colorado, and Centura Health are among the larger Colorado health systems with documented histories of sponsoring international registered nurses. Academic medical centers affiliated with the University of Colorado are also active sponsors. Sponsorship availability varies by facility, unit, and current staffing needs, so confirming directly with each employer's HR or recruitment team is important.
Which visa types are most common for registered nurse roles in Colorado?
The EB-3 immigrant visa (employment-based green card) is the most common long-term pathway for internationally trained registered nurses in Colorado. Many nurses enter initially on an H-1B visa, though the annual lottery makes this competitive. Filipino nurses frequently use the EB-3 route through CGFNS certification and NCLEX. Some facilities also work with J-1 visa exchange visitor programs for shorter-term placements, though that pathway comes with a two-year home residency requirement.
How to find registered nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship, and it filters registered nurse roles in Colorado by sponsorship availability. Rather than sorting through general job postings where sponsorship status is unclear, Migrate Mate surfaces positions where employers have indicated willingness to sponsor. This saves significant time for internationally trained nurses navigating the Colorado market alongside credential verification and licensing requirements.
Which cities in Colorado have the most registered nurse sponsorship jobs?
Denver and Aurora together form the state's largest healthcare employment cluster, anchored by University of Colorado Hospital, Children's Hospital Colorado, and several large CommonSpirit and Centura facilities. Colorado Springs has a growing hospital market including UCHealth Memorial and Penrose-St. Francis. Fort Collins and Greeley in northern Colorado also see consistent RN hiring through Banner Health and UCHealth facilities serving that region.
Are there state-specific considerations for registered nurses seeking sponsorship in Colorado?
Colorado is a Compact State under the Nurse Licensure Compact, meaning nurses licensed in another Compact state can practice in Colorado without obtaining a separate license, which can simplify onboarding. Internationally trained nurses still need to obtain Colorado licensure through the Colorado Board of Nursing, pass NCLEX, and often complete a credentials evaluation through a NCSBN-approved body. Colorado's high altitude and diverse patient population across urban trauma centers and rural critical access hospitals also shape the types of units hiring internationally.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored registered nurse jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
