Job Description Summary:
Position Responsibilities
- Performs initial re-assessment to include introduction to patient and family, vital signs, assessment of chief complaint and notification of physician within appropriate time of arrival.
- Obtains and documents a complete nursing assessment, including physiological and psychological factors to develop an interdisciplinary plan of care.
- Responds to diagnostic data and initiates appropriate action or intervention.
- Able to implement policies by education and Inservice.
- Effectively communicates verbally and written to healthcare provider, staff and leadership.
- Assume supervisor duties such as performance evaluations and competencies.
- Re-evaluates plan of care as required by physician's office standards and practices.
- Maintained a patient focus attitude at work through a spirit of cooperation, pleasant and respectful demeanor, and helpfulness towards patients, visitors, physicians, peers and employees.
- Uses a systemic problem-solving process to make sound decisions in a timely matter.
- Assumes authority, accountability and responsibility for the formal and informal direction of others.
- Monitors progress of new employees during probation period.
- Demonstrate the ability to create, initiate, and integrate new concepts and practices to improve patients satisfaction, staff satisfaction and physicians satisfaction.
- Ensures compliance with National Safety Goals.
- Helps with departmental orientation, continue education of all clinical staff.
- Demonstrates safe and correct use of equipment.
- Ensures that each patient's needs are met.
- Performs pre-operative care, when needed, per patient needs as directed by attending physician.
- Adheres to standard precautions including hand hygiene guidelines at all times.
- Documents orders and other pertinent items as needed.
- Performs dressing changes using aseptic technique, as needed.
- Collects and labels specimens per policy when ordered by physician.
- Reports all abnormal findings immediately to physician.
- Understand and participate in maintaining employee satisfaction and have a resolution for conflicts.
- Participate in planning for new service lines improvements to existing services aligned with the organization's and department's goal.
- Participate in the Hospital quality initiative. Ensures that all practices are in compliance with Joint Commission guidelines and recommendations.
- Is able to administer oxygen therapy following physician's orders.
- Responsible for overseeing 100+ clinical staff in conjunction with Clinical RN Director.
- Responsible for rounding in all Physician Practices and satellites including Key West Region.
- Responsible for training clinical staff in all Physician Practices and satellites including and not limited to Key West Region in conjunction with Clinical RN Director.
- Documents/reports patient responses or outcomes resulting from: nursing interventions, treatments/procedures, interpersonal interactions, and patient/family education.
- Evaluates and documents patient's progress towards established goals/objectives.
- Updates/revises patient care problem list and individualized patient care standards based on patient/family responses, progress towards goals, and/or change in medical status.
- Evaluates planning needs based on anticipated problems, internal or community resources, and support systems.
- Demonstrates knowledge which involves nursing assessment, diagnosis, nursing care plan, implementation, intervention and nursing care plan evaluation.
- Professional and Staff Development.
- Obtains 100% mandatory hospital and physician's office specific in-services annually, prior to evaluation date.
- Plans, presents, and documents in-services.
- Documents competency in clinical skills annually.
- Attends staff meetings as required.
- Uses established lines of communication for resolution of problems and interpersonal conflict.
- Ensures productivity daily and evaluates completion of duties assigned.
- Participates in PI program by identifying PI indicators of major aspects of care.
Qualifications
License/Registration/Certification
- Current RN Licensure in State of Florida. BLS and CPR required.
Education
- Graduated from accredited school of registered nursing.
Experience
- Two - Three years experience as an RN.
