Which companies sponsor visas for clinical assistants in California?
Large health systems with established immigration programs are the most common sponsors. Kaiser Permanente, Sutter Health, Stanford Health Care, UCLA Health, and UCSF Medical Center have all filed for clinical support staff visas in California. Community health centers funded under federally qualified health center programs also sponsor clinical assistants, particularly in underserved areas where staffing shortages are acute.
Which visa types are most common for clinical assistant roles in California?
The H-1B is the most common visa for clinical assistants whose role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Some positions qualify under the TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals, depending on the occupational category. Clinical assistants in research or teaching hospital settings may also encounter J-1 exchange visitor sponsorship through affiliated academic institutions.
Which cities in California have the most clinical assistant sponsorship jobs?
Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego account for the highest concentration of clinical assistant sponsorship opportunities in California, reflecting the density of hospital networks and outpatient facilities in those metro areas. Sacramento and the Bay Area also show consistent demand, particularly through UC Health and large integrated care systems that maintain active international hiring pipelines.
How to find clinical assistant visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles where employers have a history of visa sponsorship, making it easier to identify clinical assistant positions in California without sorting through listings that won't support international candidates. You can search by state and role type to surface relevant openings at California health systems and clinics actively hiring for sponsored positions.
Are there state-specific considerations for clinical assistants seeking visa sponsorship in California?
California's Department of Public Health sets scope-of-practice and certification requirements for clinical assistants that employers must verify before sponsoring a visa. The state's prevailing wage determinations, set by the California Employment Development Department and referenced in Labor Condition Applications, often reflect higher wage floors than national averages. Candidates with credentials from internationally recognized programs may also need state-level credential evaluation before an employer can proceed with sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored clinical assistant jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
