Which companies sponsor visas for healthcare assistants in California?
California's largest health systems are among the most active sponsors for healthcare assistant roles. Kaiser Permanente, Dignity Health, Stanford Health Care, UCSF Health, and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center have histories of sponsoring work visas for qualified candidates. Large academic medical centers and hospital networks tend to have dedicated HR and immigration infrastructure, making them more equipped to manage sponsorship than smaller clinics.
Which visa types are most common for healthcare assistant roles in California?
The H-1B visa is the most common pathway for healthcare assistants in California, provided the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Some roles may also qualify under the TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals, or the O-1 for individuals with extraordinary ability. EB-3 immigrant visas are another pathway when employers pursue permanent sponsorship for clinical support staff.
Which cities in California have the most healthcare assistant sponsorship jobs?
Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, and Sacramento concentrate the highest volume of healthcare assistant sponsorship opportunities in California. Los Angeles benefits from a dense network of hospital systems and specialty clinics. San Francisco's proximity to UCSF and Stanford Health Care creates strong demand in the Bay Area. San Diego's growing biotech and hospital sector also supports consistent hiring of internationally sponsored healthcare support staff.
How to find healthcare assistant visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically for international job seekers and filters healthcare assistant roles in California by visa sponsorship availability, saving significant research time. Rather than sorting through general job listings where sponsorship status is unclear, Migrate Mate surfaces positions where employers have indicated willingness to sponsor. Filtering by California and the healthcare assistant category gives you a targeted list of relevant opportunities.
Are there any California-specific considerations for healthcare assistant visa sponsorship?
California's Department of Industrial Relations sets prevailing wage standards that employers must meet when sponsoring H-1B workers, which can affect hiring decisions at smaller facilities. The state's large international student population at UC and CSU campuses also creates a pipeline of OPT-eligible candidates, meaning some employers are already familiar with work authorization processes. Roles in unionized facilities may have additional requirements that affect how sponsorship is structured.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored healthcare assistant jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
