Which companies sponsor visas for pharmacy technicians in California?
Kaiser Permanente, Sutter Health, Dignity Health, CVS Health, Walgreens, and Rite Aid have all filed Labor Condition Applications for pharmacy technician roles in California. Large hospital systems with high patient volumes tend to sponsor more consistently than small independent pharmacies. Retail chains typically hire at scale across multiple California locations, making them a practical starting point for candidates seeking sponsorship.
Which visa types are most common for pharmacy technician roles in California?
The H-1B visa is the most commonly pursued visa for pharmacy technicians in California, though it requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, which can be harder to establish for technician-level positions compared to pharmacist roles. Some candidates transition through employer-sponsored green card pathways under EB-3. Canadian and Mexican nationals may explore TN visa status under the pharmacist category, but pharmacy technician is not a listed TN occupation.
Which cities in California have the most pharmacy technician sponsorship jobs?
Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, and Sacramento account for the highest concentration of pharmacy technician sponsorship opportunities in California. Los Angeles has the largest volume due to its population density and the presence of major health systems and retail chains. The San Francisco Bay Area attracts roles tied to hospital networks and specialty pharmacy operations serving the biotech and life sciences sector.
How to find pharmacy technician visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship work in the United States. You can filter directly by role and state to browse pharmacy technician positions in California where employers have indicated sponsorship willingness. This saves significant time compared to sifting through general job postings where sponsorship availability is rarely disclosed upfront for technician-level roles.
Are there state-specific requirements pharmacy technicians should know before pursuing California sponsorship jobs?
California requires pharmacy technicians to be licensed through the California State Board of Pharmacy before practicing. International candidates must have their credentials evaluated and meet California's licensure requirements, which include a background check and passing the PTCE or ExCPT exam. Employers sponsoring visas will expect licensure to be in place or actively in progress, so addressing this before or alongside your visa petition is important.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored pharmacy technician jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
