INTRODUCTION
NVIDIA has been transforming computer graphics, PC gaming, and accelerated computing for more than 25 years. It’s a unique legacy of innovation that’s fueled by great technology—and amazing people. Today, we’re tapping into the unlimited potential of AI to define the next era of computing. An era in which our GPU acts as the brains of computers, robots, and self-driving cars that can understand the world. Doing what’s never been done before takes vision, innovation, and the world’s best talent. As an NVIDIAN, you’ll be immersed in a diverse, supportive environment where everyone is inspired to do their best work. Come join the team and see how you can make a lasting impact on the world.
Telecom networks are becoming AI-native, cloud-native, and software-defined. Our Telecom team is building a GPU-accelerated AI-RAN platform that transforms how radios and basebands are designed and deployed across 5G, 5G-Advanced, and 6G. In the role of Lead SoC Product Architect for Telecom AI RAN (RU/DU), you define SoC and platform architecture for radio and distributed unit products. You develop NVIDIA’s AI-RAN roadmap. You work directly with top operators and NEPs to bring software-defined baseband to production at scale.
What you’ll be doing:
- Define the SoC product family and roadmap concerning Radio Access Networks in telecommunications. Partition responsibilities for CPU, GPU, and accelerators. Set power and cost targets. Specify scalability from coordinated RU/DU appliances to cloud-hosted O-DU.
- Perform detailed workload and use-case analysis pertaining to RU and DU (FR1/FR2, MIMO layers, bandwidth, carrier aggregation, CoMP, mMIMO), and map these requirements into SoC features, memory hierarchies, accelerators, and interconnect.
- Drive competitive analysis versus traditional baseband ASICs and alternative vRAN / O-RAN solutions, including performance, perf/W, silicon cost, flexibility, and upgradeability; use these insights to refine SoC and system direction.
- Collect and synthesize customer and ecosystem requirements from operators, NEPs, and software partners, and feed them into SoC, board, and software roadmaps with clear, prioritized product requirements.
- Collaborate with NVIDIA’s RAN software, AI, and cloud-native engineering teams to ensure that the SoC architecture, reference platforms, and SDKs support efficient implementation of AI-native RAN applications and rapid adoption of new 3GPP/O-RAN releases.
- Present deeply technical content to customers, partners, and internal leadership, clearly explaining architectural tradeoffs, performance results, and roadmap proposals for RU and DU products.
What we need to see:
- MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 15+ years of experience in wireless RAN/baseband architecture or SoC product definition, with significant time focused on 4G/5G L1/L2 and/or O-RAN / vRAN systems.
- Proven track record defining SoC or platform architectures for high-performance communications or signal-processing products, including hardware/software partitioning, accelerator strategy, and memory / I/O requirements.
- Comprehensive knowledge of 3GPP RAN standards (4G/5G, NR, NR-Advanced) and O-RAN split architectures, including the functions of radio and distributed units, fronthaul, timing, and synchronization. Understanding of how these affect compute, latency, and bandwidth needs of radio and distributed units.
- Strong knowledge of L1/PHY algorithms (OFDM, MIMO, beamforming, channel estimation, LDPC/FEC). Understand how they run on central processors, graphics processors, and dedicated accelerators. Practical experience with one commercial-grade 4G/5G PHY or MAC implementation required.
Ways to stand out from the crowd:
- Direct involvement in architecting GPU- or accelerator-based RAN or signal-processing systems, or in bringing a major vRAN / O-RAN product from concept to commercial deployment.
- Experience defining or implementing AI-native RAN use cases (e.g., AI-assisted scheduling, channel prediction, traffic forecasting, anomaly detection, or energy optimization) and understanding their impact on RU/DU compute and memory.
- Hands-on experience with O-RAN and 3GPP standardization activities, ORAN WG contributions, or multi-vendor interoperability programs.
- Prior customer-facing role conducting competitive analysis, design-ins, or technical workshops with Tier-1 operators, NEPs, or cloud providers.

Which companies sponsor visas for product architects in California?
Large technology employers in California with a consistent history of sponsoring product architects include Google, Apple, Meta, Salesforce, Adobe, Cisco, and Oracle. Enterprise software and cloud infrastructure companies tend to sponsor at higher rates because product architect roles require specialized technical depth that justifies the H-1B visa petition process. Mid-size SaaS companies headquartered in the Bay Area and Los Angeles also sponsor regularly for these senior positions.
Which visa types are most common for product architect roles in California?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for product architects in California, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Some candidates enter through the L-1A or L-1B if transferring within a multinational company. Individuals with exceptional recognition in their field may qualify for the O-1A. Australian citizens can also pursue the E-3 visa, which has no annual lottery.
Which cities in California have the most product architect sponsorship jobs?
The San Francisco Bay Area, including San Jose, San Francisco, and Sunnyvale, accounts for the largest share of product architect sponsorship jobs in California due to its concentration of enterprise technology companies. Los Angeles is a growing secondary market, driven by media technology, fintech, and e-commerce employers. San Diego has a smaller but active cluster, particularly in cybersecurity, biotech software, and defense technology companies.
How to find product architect visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters product architect roles in California by visa sponsorship status, saving significant time compared to manually screening job postings. The platform indexes positions from California employers with a documented history of sponsoring work visas. Filtering by state and role on Migrate Mate surfaces active openings at companies that have already filed Labor Condition Applications or H-1B petitions for comparable positions.
Are there state-specific considerations for product architect visa sponsorship in California?
California employers filing H-1B Labor Condition Applications must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements specific to each metropolitan area, and Bay Area prevailing wages for product architect roles are among the highest in the country. California's large research university system, including UC Berkeley, UCLA, and Stanford, creates a strong pipeline of OPT candidates who often transition into sponsored roles at California technology companies after graduation.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product architect jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
