Which companies in Iowa sponsor visas for product architects?
Des Moines-based financial services companies are among the most active sponsors for product architect roles in Iowa. Principal Financial Group, Nationwide, and Wells Fargo operations in the state have a track record of H-1B visa sponsorship for senior technical roles. Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids and John Deere's Iowa facilities also sponsor product architects working on enterprise and embedded systems.
Which visa types are most commonly used for product architect roles in Iowa?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for product architects in Iowa, as the role typically requires at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, systems engineering, or a related field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for the TN visa under the NAFTA successor agreement. Those with an approved I-140 may also work under H-1B extensions beyond the standard six-year limit.
How to find product architect visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship willingness, making it straightforward to identify product architect openings in Iowa without sifting through roles that won't support international candidates. You can filter by state and job category to surface positions at Iowa employers in fintech, insurance, and manufacturing technology, which are the sectors most likely to sponsor for this role.
Which cities in Iowa have the most product architect visa sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines accounts for the largest share of product architect sponsorship activity in Iowa, driven by its concentration of insurance carriers, financial services firms, and growing technology companies. Cedar Rapids is the second most active market, anchored by Collins Aerospace and a cluster of manufacturing technology employers. Iowa City and Ames have smaller but notable opportunities tied to university-adjacent tech and research commercialization.
Are there any Iowa-specific considerations for product architects seeking visa sponsorship?
Iowa employers filing H-1B petitions for product architects must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the Des Moines or Cedar Rapids metropolitan areas, which differ from major coastal markets. Iowa State University and the University of Iowa produce engineering and computer science graduates who sometimes transition into product architecture roles, creating familiarity among local employers with OPT-to-H-1B pathways. The state's lower cost of operations can make sponsorship more feasible for mid-sized companies compared to high-cost markets.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product architect jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
