- Support internal and external audits, certifications, and assessments, including ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI, NIST CSF, and other GRC obligations.
- Support GRC automation initiatives by helping define requirements for workflow automation, control monitoring, and scalable control testing processes.
- Work with technical and engineering teams to understand security tools, data sources, system-generated evidence, and opportunities to automate or improve control validation.
- Contribute to a culture of high-quality documentation, defensible controls testing, and continuous improvement across the Controls & Certifications function.

Which companies sponsor visas for senior cybersecurity engineers in California?
Large technology employers in California with documented H-1B visa sponsorship histories for cybersecurity roles include Cisco Systems, Google, Apple, Intel, Palo Alto Networks, CrowdStrike, and Broadcom. Defense contractors such as Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin also sponsor senior cybersecurity engineers, particularly in the Los Angeles and San Diego corridors. Sponsorship activity varies by hiring cycle and business need, so checking individual employer H-1B disclosure data through the Department of Labor's OFLC portal gives the most accurate picture.
Which visa types are most common for senior cybersecurity engineer roles in California?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for senior cybersecurity engineers in California, as these roles consistently qualify as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information security, or a related field. Candidates with extraordinary recognition in the field may qualify for the O-1A. Those already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT, including those with STEM OPT extensions, frequently transition into H-1B sponsorship through California employers in this role category.
Which cities in California have the most senior cybersecurity engineer sponsorship jobs?
The San Francisco Bay Area, particularly San Jose, Santa Clara, and San Francisco, accounts for the largest concentration of sponsored senior cybersecurity engineer positions in California, driven by the density of technology companies headquartered there. Los Angeles is a secondary hub, with activity from defense contractors, entertainment-tech firms, and cloud providers. San Diego has a notable cluster tied to defense and cybersecurity contractors. Remote roles listed by California-headquartered companies also appear frequently across these metropolitan areas.
How to find senior cybersecurity engineer visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search for senior cybersecurity engineer roles in California without manually screening out employers who don't sponsor. You can filter by state and role to surface active listings from California-based employers across the Bay Area, Los Angeles, and San Diego. Because sponsorship status is built into the search, you avoid the common frustration of applying only to discover later that an employer won't support a visa petition.
Are there any California-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for senior cybersecurity engineers?
California employers must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the specific location of employment, meaning wage obligations in the Bay Area are among the highest in the country given local wage determinations. The state's concentration of STEM graduate programs at UC Berkeley, Stanford, UCLA, and UC San Diego also creates an active pipeline of F-1 students on OPT seeking H-1B sponsorship in this role. California's strict employee classification laws can also influence how employers structure sponsored positions, though this is primarily an employment law consideration separate from immigration.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored senior cybersecurity engineer jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
